Default Emergency Brake Light Turns On Going Uphill or Accelerating

Anyone have this problem? When accelerating or when going uphill (pretty sure it is due to acceleration though) the red emergency brake light will turn on. I will check down on the console and the brake handle is still down though. I could be accelerating for 10 seconds and it will be on then turn off when under constant speed or decreasing speed.

It seems that my 05 is falling apart quicker than an old doughnut. Car rattles, the windshield is getting dirtier and dirtier and it seems to just be falling apart overall.

Mine does it on my XB2 & its because the E-brake is very very loose. I can tap it gently with my pinky finger and it will light up. I have to find time to take in to the dealer....

I had this happen to my in my old 87 honda once,
Solution, check your break fluid. It probably also indicates when your brake fluid is low. Which also may suggest your breaks are at their limit as well

THANKS A LOT! I never thought of that. I have like 44,000 miles on the tC and never had brakes changed. You think I need to get them changed? I don't want to find out when it's too late if you know what I mean. When are brakes supposed to be changed? Do you mean the rotor, caliper, or the whole brake set? Maybe I will get Brembos :D.

The search function in this site is horrible at best. I tried to search and I get nothing with a thread title called brake fluid. I tried using AND, quotes, and everything. I see this thread pop up and 300 other ones that have nothing to do with brake lights. Can you show me the thread or tell me the thread author? Thanks for your cooperation.

Do I just buy the fluid at the store and fill it up somewhere in the engine bay? I shall do it this weekend although I would like to get Brembo brakes too.

i dear hope to God you didn't just blindly fill up your brake fluid without realizing WHY it was low in the first place...

check your brake pads first man..
