Default Engine Swap

Do you think swapping out the stock engine of the tC and replacing it with the V6 SE Camry Engine...your HP, jumped from 160 to 225. Add on a S/C and your lookin at upwards of 300 HP...would that work?

It will all depend. If the engine mounts weren't reworked and they went the cheap way by making the bay just fit around the engine then this might be a possibility.

If it is possible the tC could be the civic with a B-series engine considering the abundence of the Camry V6's.

But at this point I dont even know if the engine even face the same direction.

I read somewhere, I don't know where, that some company did swap the camry 6 in and charged it. They did have to rework the mounts and alot of other custom work but it did fit. Might not be the best option though because nobody knows if the axels could handle that much torque or any other part for that matter.

Didn't it occur to you not to be an _______?

I'm not sure if the tC has enough room underhood to fit in a V6. Have you considered exploring the possibilities of an MR-2 turbo engine? I'm pretty sure that would fit (you'd have to do some custom piping, but the potential alone is worth it).

Personally, I'd wait to see what kind of aftermarket FI kits become available for the car, especially if it takes off the way it seems to be.

building and swapping an engine is part of tuning. to me, i would rather make something that someone else doesn't have. putting in a v6 into a tC would be a nice mod, but exspensive.

What about a rear wheel drive wankel xB!! I agree tweaking and tuning is what makes all of this soo fun! I would love to see a camry V-6 in a tC! I just checked...the V-6 is pointed the same way in the car. It looks so much bigger....

16k TC
+5K swap
+3K supercharger
-----------------
=24k 300hp car

its cheaper to do it this way and its a lighter car than another 300hp car would be

If you could fit a 3S-GTE into a tC, then i'm pretty positive that a V6 could fit into the tC as well.

So it can be done...Impossible is just another level of difficulty. Someone tell me where I can go to buy a brand new car that has 300hp in it for 23k.

2005 M3 - 333hp ~$38k
2005 Crossfire SRT6 330hp ~$45k
2005 G35Coupe 280hp ~$35k
2005 Mercedes C55 AMG 362hp ~$54k
2005 Acura TL 270hp ~$34k

If anyone can get any one of these cars brand new for 23k...send me a PM. If you have a 300hp tC and you pull up to a car like I mentioned above...you know you can hang with them...but they don't know u can and thats the surprise.

WRX STi 300HP = $32,195
SRT-4 With Stage 2 Upgrade 280HP = $22,384.90
350Z 287HP = $26,470

Just some other cars out there. Also what camry is this engine coming from? I see the new ones only have 210HP. Also they all have autos, so if you wanted a manual you would not to fabricate mounts for that also.

Edit: the 3.0L Camry has 210HP the 3.3 Camry has 225HP.

It would be coming from an automatic Camry SE that has 225hp. The cars you listed are manual...therefore are cheaper than autos.

What tranny are you going to mate up to the V6? The same auto tranny? Or a manual tranny? And if a manual tranny, which one?

Evo RS has a MSRP of $26K and you get a great AWD system and brembo brakes
and it would have a warrenty

Legacy GT is about $25K only 250hp, but again AWD, four doors and a warrenty

I bought a Scion because it was a good car for the price...if I had $24K to spend I would have one of the above cars

this is my opinion-
the v6 camry engine should fit, correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the tc and solara the same car/frame with differents body parts put on? if you were to do it, the trans will have to be the automatic. but why not just buy a new solara v6 sport for about $24k, imo - looks nice and the finish is better.

The tC and the Solara are on different platforms. The thing you need to look for is if both the 2AZ and the 3MZ use the same mounting points. If they do then you're in luck since the engine would drop in. If they don't then you're going to have to spend some money frabricating mounting points for the engine.

Expensive to do. You would have to source what parts you'll need. Then fabricating. Then troubleshooting and a whole bunch of other stuff. And don't you mean understeer?

Since we are talking about swapping out a tc engine and putting in a V6 SE Camry Engine why not swap in the is300 2jz engine since there are some is300er out there pushing out more than 340hp.

No. You're just asking for more trouble by thinking about dropping in a 2JZ-GE onto a tC. The 3.0L Inline-6 engine is bigger and longer than the 3.3L V6. You might as well just get yourself a Supra or a IS300 if you're planning on doing that.
