ext warranty question
Well when i bought my car last november, i was new to stick, and my parents suggested the extended warranty, so i got it, but i actually picked up on man quite quickly and dont think i did much damage at all to the tranny, now i wanna get some aftermarkets, but the problem is i have an extended warranty andn taht would be stupid to void some warranties after paying a little over a grand for it, my question is if i refinance, can i do it before my 5 years warranty is up and refinance it w/o my ext warranty? is this a dealer thing if they decide to be dicks and not let me? thx
You should be able to go to the dealer and request a refund on the unused portion of the extended warranty.
As for voiding it... simply adding something aftermarket does not void your warranty. As has been stated often, it will become an issue IF you install something aftermarket, you have a problem, the dealership determines that the aftermarket part DIRECTLY caused the problem - they will not cover the repairs under warranty.
Example: Say you install a turbo kit and then it ruins your clutch. They would look at it and say "that turbo kit you installed caused the damage" and then the clutch repair would NOT be covered under warranty.

Well... I can't tell you to keep it or not.
But I do have the extended warranty for the term of my payments. I just feel a little safer that way. It's a tough call to cancel it b/c you might kick yourself down the road if something goes wrong. Then again, you might feel like you wasted $1000 down the road if everything is OK.
I have new springs on my tC and I didn't really give a second thought to the warranty. If anything, changing springs would make your shocks/struts blow out a bit sooner (but it's to be expected when it's lowered) and possibly an alignment issue. Now the IHE might be the biggest concern, but I would think that if you're staying with quality parts and they're installed properly, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
It's up to you though. But just remember that putting the items on does not instantly void it. They would have to be the source of whatever problem might come up. And also remember that the warranty will cover more than just what you're replacing.

You can always add after-market parts, and if you have a problem just add the stock part bcak. Also, ack154 is right, you can cancel the warenty and be pro-rated back any time/money not used.

Like, if it was $100 for 100 days. You had it for 10 days. They should give you $90 back.
