Those OEM fog light units are most likely too big to fit in the side openings on the bumpers. I'm currently slowly figuring out how to fit in Hella DE units behind those openings and the aperture could only accomodate about 2.5 inch diameter units. the OEM fogs look like at least 3 inches in diameter.
It's hard to find mounting points for fog light units if you plan to mount it behind the plastic bumper panel. The closest metal surface is towards the radiator sides, but there seems to be airbag sensor circuits mounted where I would like to hang the fog units from. Not a good idea to mess around near those things. I'll have to figure something else for the lights. I'll have to figure out how to anchor brackets against the plastic bumper material instead. Not the best thing (too flexy and will surely let the lights vibrate a bit when I hit bumps) but I might have no choice.
I figure I'll warn you about the situation behind those side openings.

You should be able to reach the lights from below by removing the plastic bottom shields from the car. Try to look for screws from the front of the lower grille first before going from below. I think if you cn remove the grille, you should be OK cause I think the lights are just attached to the grille.
Good Luck!

Been a while since I checked but one of the scion parts sites, mcgeorges or sparks, has install instructions for the fog light. I figure to remove just do the reverse of the instructions. Shouldn't be too bad from what I remember of the install.
