Default Factory LED option fix?

Hi, I pick up my tC (flint mica 5spd) tomorrow, but I went to sign papers and look at it today. looks awesome and can't wait to drive it home.

my question is this:
does anyone else that has the LED enhancement have a problem with the tube being visible? that has always been a pet peeve of mine that you can see the tube, i think all you should see is the glow, and i am afraid this is going to annoy the hell out of me...anyways...has anyone out there that shares my problem found a way to fix it?

just curious if anyone had any innovative solutions.
thanks
Justin

I don't mind them being visible so much. I can't see either of them when I'm driving, but my girlfriend says she can see the tube on her side (she's shorter than I am.) They're riveted to the plastic panels, but if you drill out the rivets and make some metal tabs to mount to the panels you could maybe move them back and up, further towards the firewall and kind of tucked up behind the panel.

it depends on how they mounted them. On the kit that I build, they are tucked up out of sight.

randode, not to threadjack, but how do you think yellow cathodes would coordinate with the amber dash lighting?

I have the blue LED and it is not bright at all. I am rather disappointed with the $250 option. I suppose if you want it to glow, a cathode kit would be the way to go. I have cathodes in my computer and expected a glow more similar to those. LED is weak.

A length of thin shiny sheet metal and a roller....voila! a reflector. Flat black paint on the side pointing into the cabin if needed. This assumes that the tubes are not close enough to the footwells to actually come into contact with your legs when getting in and out.

I have another question though. Exactly how bright do you want these bad boys to be? I'd imagine that it'd be a distraction while driving to have brilliant illumination beaming up from the floor boards.

Just to check, anyone here ever hear of anyone getting in trouble for having cold cathodes and it being too bright in the car? I know the cathodes are brighter but can cops argue too bright? I can imagine a cop pulling me over arguing its a distraction or reducing my view or whatever and giving me a ticket to that extent. Any thoughts?

That is a white cathode with a yellow tinted acrylic cover. What I mean is they dont make an actual yellow cathode rod. There is nothing wrong with it though, its just not what I use.

i got the blue LED light option too. i don't think they're weak, they're actually pretty bright for me. and about the tube being visible, i easily fixed that by just pushing the tube up as hard as i can :D it worked perfectly, and also stayed in place!

octacon... is your kit the plastic rod with a single LED on one end? My cup holders are bright, but the footwell just gives a slight glow. Nothing that anyone would notice looking in from outside.

No, I think it just hit the daily bandwidth limit. I can see them fine now, too.
