Dang, how tall was this guy? I'm 6'5" and don't have this problem. Maybe he should of tried lowering the seat. :D

I have to agree with their frustration over the water runoff from the hatch into the trunk area. I noticed that right away. What a crappy design flaw.....especially when you live in a wet climate. Hopefully that issue will be worked out by the new model year.

maybe you can plug up the holes where the water drains out of... but that would kind of defeat the purpose...

how in the WORLD did they get such bad gas mileage? thats awful! I drive my car like I stole it and I am getting flawless 25MPG every single pump visit. I keep a caculator in my car for ever fill up but its right on the money now every time.

I dont shift on average until 4500rpms at least and the car never complains. 17mpg boggles my mind... something has to be wrong.

I guess I don't see water runoff as that big of a deal. If you're in the rain, ____ gets wet.

sounds like they are getting screwed by their dealer.. $45? for what? oil changes are free.. (first three) notice how they didn't even say what was done for that price? that's a little odd..

and the water running off? if you open up the hatch carefully, it won't all come out of the side water channels into the hatch all at once.. it's called a hatchback.. this is common.. maybe they forgot what hatches were like..

and plastic piece popping out? why didn't they have the dealer put a new piece in, instead of complaining about it??

Up to now, I have been pretty impressed by Edmunds and relied on them for good info. This review of the tC is something that a novice would write. To spend so much time complaining about rain getting in and a warranty piece coming loose is rather lame.

Then to say "but riding in the back for long periods of time feels restrictive." is quite a hoot. The cars like the tC have NO room in the back. Did they try to get 4 folks in the back? Plus the tC is not really a car for you if you are always going to put 4-5 people in the car.

I agree with the other poster about the MPG. They must have had 6 people in the car with 4 suitcases. That MPG was terrible.

But to say almost nothing about the nice ride, great engine, great looks proves this article was written by a "newbie" at Edmunds.

I agree. I'm 6'2" and I've got no problems unless the seat is raised all the way up.

totally agree, either a newbie or biased review.

Uh yeah, but I've had 3 hatchbacks (2000 Celica, 90 Celica, and 94 GSR) and neither of them have had this problem. So why couldn't Scion get it right?

I mean, its not like it was a big enough deal to keep me from buying the car, but damn we get a lot of rain up here!

I agree. That review was terrible. The only thing I agree with was the water run off. MPG was way off and the back leg room in the tC is more than most sedans that I've ridden in. The reviewer must've done a full service checkup and what resulted of that was only an oil change which is probably why it was $45.

But the first 3 oil changes are free. And the service checkup price varies with dealership. The water run off is probably either due to styling and/or cost savings. LA got lots of rain this year and my trunk gets a little bit of water dripped on from the open hatch, but not even close to what Edmunds have described.

Oh I understand that it could be an annoyance, but I don't see it as a design flaw. It would be different if the purpose of the trunk was such that it should shield you during downpour, but really that's not the purpose at all.

I guess it just seems like the review was nit-picking instead of pointing out any possible problems (or positives, for that matter).

I usually get 18-19mpg, but I have a lead foot and my work is only 2.5 miles away with lots of stop lights and no freeways. I don't think you can get much worse gas mileage than I do.

When I took a road trip I got 27mpg though
