soo..I was driving to palm springs from brawley and (go figure) i tell my g/f "hey we're making good time!" all of a sudden I hear one of the scariest sounds ever and see my driver side fender liner go flying out the back of my car -_-...

I was able to walk down the highway a bit and grab it..hopefully I can reinstall it with some new retainer clips. I ended up driving back to my uncle's place (house sitting) and taking his camry instead..the fender liner being gone totally exposed my injen CAI and I was afraid of something trashing the filter..oh and I just gone done cleaning the filter to.

Converted the CAI to an SRI (the 2nd pipe was scratched to hell anyway!) so hopefully the car will be ok for the 3 hour drive back home to La Habra.

Go figure...I meant to convert back to my stock airbox and couldn't find the bolts (doh!) and figure "oh well..some other day.." and then this happens...*sigh*...

i guess its because I've removed that one so many times haha. On the way down to brawley at one point i heard a noise then a strange *whirrrrr* sound..thought it was the wind? (very windy down here) and i go to work on my car in my uncles garage and i noticed the fender liner was falling off rubbing against the tire and my tire rubbed a HUGE hole in it o.O

 

lol when i had the tC i drove w/o the fender liner for 2.5 years. that stuff just gets in the way of the wheels

 

haha well depending on my wheel setup next year (still can't decide what i want ) i may end up taking them out anyway. I was mostly concerned about my filter from my CAI. Converting it to an SRI solved that problem.

 

your filter woudl have been fine man you'd hve a couple more things to worry bout if soemthing could hit the filter big enough to destroy it

 

i dont have any of my front liner (splash guards also) so i just converted the intake to SRI

 

mine fell off months ago and it was good because my wheels would rub, as for the filter just remember to clean it when ever you change your oil.

 

ha haha, i remember when mine ripped off on the highway.

saw something black rolling around in my rear view mirror..lol

 

Last time that happened to me I was driving a Toyota Paseo from Orlando, Florida to Houston, Texas... I was in the panhandle of Florida. Got towed back to my family's place in Louisiana. Turned out the fender liner ripped out the under hood fuse box and random other wires. My brother-in-law rewired the whole damn engine bay and some of the interior wiring that got pulled also. After a serious 6 hour electrical fiasco the Paseo was on the road again headed to Houston, Texas.
