a few questions.
first of all, i'd like to say how much this forum has helped me thus far doing my research on the tC. whoever set this up, i thank you.
my tC is going to be here on friday, and i couldn't be more excited. i have a few things to take care of before i can actually take it off the lot, but i'm planning on picking it up and driving it away on the 22nd.
i have a few questions for everyone before i do that:
1. how should i break the car in? it's an auto, and it should have less than 5 miles on the odomoter when i get it.
2. anyone have any suggestions as to who i should get it insured through? i'm currently with progressive, and they quoted me $750 every 6 months with a $500 deductible. seems kind of high, considering that i have a close to perfect driving record, and no wrecks.
3. what are the measurements for the storage compartment under the cargo floor, to the right of the spare tire? i'm planning on mounting my amp(s) under there, but i can't start shopping until i know what will fit. if anyone has, or would take the time to take the exact measurments, i'd appreciate it.
4. where's a cheap place online to get a complete car cleaning kit that doesn't suck? i'm talking something that has everything i need, i.e. wax, soap, interior cleaner, microfiber towels, etc. oh, and should i wait a while to wax my car? i read something somewhere that said you shouldn't wax a brand new car until you've had it for a while. true or false?
5. does anyone know where i can get an enclosure like the one harmonic_tc used to sell? anyone have one they'd be interested in selling? i want exactly that set up for my infinity perfect 10.
6. can i get infinity kappas? according to crutchfield.com, neither the infinity kappa 5 and 1/4's, nor the 6 and 1/2's will fit in my car, even though these are the size speakers they say fit in the tC. i REALLY want kappas. i had them in my first car, back when i was 16, and i STILL miss them. anyone had any luck putting them in? if not, why do they not fit? and what speaker will give me comparable sound that DOES fit?
that's all i can think of right now, but i'm sure i'm forgetting some things. this is like the 5th time i've posted a thread asking for help, and i haven't been disappointed yet. it's great to know that there are so many people on here willing to chip in their two cents. without you guys, i'd be lost, doing fruitless google searches. so thanks in advance for any info you share.

Kappas will fit. You need an MDF spacer/adapter to install them. 6.5" will fit in both front/rear. I know because those are on my wish list. PM me for more info on where to get the brackets, etc.
1. dont go crazy and start punching it, take it smooth for now.
2. mine is about $815/6 months with 1 accident (not in the tC and not my fault) and 1 ticket (took DD).
3. not too sure?
4. i would just go to the local auto store or walmart and buy products from either Meguiars! I have/love all their products!!! Give it a while till you wax, ive had my tC for 1.5yrs and havent waxed it yet. it still shines like crazy!!
5. i know of some place but cant remember the site, im sure it was expensive. Go to your local audio shop to get a quote??
6. 6.5" speakers will fit. If your upgrading your speakers go with components, its well worth it!!!
BTW- what color did you pick?

1) take it easy for the first 1K, nothing above 3K if you can help it and don't stay at the same speed for an extended period of time - NO CRUISE CTRL
2)Geico is the cheapest near me
i'm too tired to go on...yanki made some good suggestions

For tips on how to take care of your car, read the guide to detailing www.guidetodetailing.com
It is important that you wash, clay, and seal/wax the car first when you receive it, then reguarly to protect the paint from damage and keep it in close to like-new condition for as long as possible.
I also recommend not allowing the dealer to "prep" the vehicle with their "detailing" - 90% they'll just swirl it up for you.. the guys they pay $5 an hour to use dirty wool pads and rotaries, or dish soap and floor brushes to wash your car don't really care whether it gets swirled up.
Break in... just drive normally. Don't redline it, don't baby it. Just vary the range... that's all. Don't slam on the brakes unless its an emergency.
Congrats on your purchase, I think you'll be very happy with it!

Once you turn 26, your insurance should go down a good bit (25 is the last year they consider you a "youth driver"). I'm 29, no accidents, one ticket over five years ago, that's it -- I pay $560 for six months.
Shop around, get quotes from everyone. The internet makes this very easy to do.
1. you should get a DVD that tells you how to brake your car in, I did, I've seen them in the tC's that I test drove too
2. I'm with GEICO and pay about the same as tortus^^ .....feel free to shop around tho but GEICO was the cheapest for me also with $500 deductible

Insurance wise, Mercury was the cheapest for me. $250 a month, no accidents/tickets, lame but I guess Southern California + 19 year old male = iky insurance rates. Like someone else posted, you can shop around on the internet. I waxed mine within the first week I had it to seal the paint etc. Meguirs makes really good war washing products. Amazingly, Target has very nice sponges, microfiber towels, and other car washing stuff for pretty cheap. The towels and sponger were like 2.99 each. Also, theres an amazing drying thing, its called like the water blade or something, some AsSeenonTV thing, that they should sell at local hardware stores, I think I even remember seeing it at Target, works amazing, I now dry my car in atleast 1/2 the amount of time then using a shammy. Its 100% silicone so it won't scratch your car.
RE: the car care products
I sort of like most Griot's Garage products. They aren't cheap, but the ones that work well, work really well.
