Finally got the roof rattle but found a way to solved it!!
After a year of driving my tC I finally have the roof rattle and it's been annoying me for a couple of weeks. I got home today and decided to take a look what was causing it. It turn out that the hinges from the rod that attach to the wind deflector used to have greese and it dried out. I applied greese on it and the rattle is gone. This part is not inside the rubber seal but outside and it gets wet everytime it rains or wash my car. I'm sure you guys had figure it out but I just like to share it cause I'm happy again with my tc.
Sweet! I figured that's what happened with mine. I heard the noise coming from the deflector, but didn't know if it was bolts or if it just needed some grease. I'll take care of it. =)

Yeah greasing the wind deflector arm has already been covered before in this forum . It resolved some of my roof noises , but didnt cure all of them . The most constant and most annoying one comes from the rear panel of glass in the roof , before it goes into the hatch glass . I am suspecting(this is a theory till I get more information) the roof panel attaches to the vehicle and rests in a subframe . Im assuming in this subframe there are rubber mounts or soemthing that contain the actual bolts that connect it to the car . I believe this is where my sound is coming from , since when I reach back when doing down the road and pull down on the black piece of trim in the second sunroof the noise stops . I have been to the dealership numerous times over this issue and it never gets solved . Now I am lookin to take matters into my own hands since they have been no help . If anyone has a link to detailed images or schematics of how the roof is attached to the vehicle it might help in me figuering out this damn noise , then I will proceed to the hatch .

I just picked up my tC from the dealership. I took it down there to get the hatch rattle fixed...all he did was apply some padding around the edges and presto.....quite ridin from now on
As far as my Hatch rattle. I took the advice of a couple of people on here. First, when you close the hatch, dont slam it shut. Close it as slow as you can (after fully opening the hatch all the way) and then push down on it so you here it click. Also, I took some foam insulation (sticky on one side- comes in a 1/4 in side strip) and put it where the rubber stops are on each side of the hatch and also where those two cushions in the very back -attached to the hatch- meet with the screw on the bottom of the car it self.
As mentioned earlier, the hatch seems to have to much play because of the defective struts.
thats my 2 cents.

The spray lithium grease worked like a charm! Be sure to get both joints on each arm and put a towel behind it when you spray because that stuff is MESSY! No more rattles. This will not fix the POP however, as the TSB needs performed at the dealership first, then your roof will rattle. HAHA!
