Default Fix It Ticket

Wasnt sure where to post this, I was going to post in regional, but figured it might apply to everyone.

So anyways, I got a big fatty fix it ticket for:

27150(a) Mod Exhaust (Equip)
27151 Mod Exhaust (Noise)
24003 Unlawlful Lighting Rear Plate

ok now. I have the injen ses axelback exhaust, and I put in the white leds in my license plate lights. Looking at the vehicle code 24003, it says no blinking lights, and plate lights must be white, which mine are. I think I also read that it can't project any light, which looking at mine, project a square maybe 6" from the back of the car, about 1ft tall by the length of the vehicle. But, it looks the same as all the lexus's, so wtf -.-.

The exhaust, apparently in california, you can't modify any part of the exhaust, and the noise is at the cop's desrecsion, so I guess I can't do anything about that.

As to getting them written off, Im unsure of how to go about the exhaust. If I get it smoged, Id have to take of atleast part of my intake, I was thinking of just taking off the first pipe, and putting the stock airbox back, leaving the cold air pipe in the fender well, which I dont think you can see, but im not 100% sure. Im pretty sure the Injen would pass smog, since it didn't delete any of the cats, and noise wise, I was under the impression it was in the 89-92db area, and the legal limit is 95db. So yeah, wasn't sure if I had to get it smoged, to prove that it is legal and such, or if I can just go to the Sherrif station and have them test it there, if they even test exhaust noise/legalness there. For the license plate lights, during the day, theres no way you could tell they "project" light, but I could just change them out real fast and not have to worry about it, not exactly sure. So basically Im not very happy with cops at the moment, getting pulled over for doing nothing wrong, being young sucks -.-

Find Scionxb626 and talk to him about how he got his exhaust legal. He went somewhere and they tested the sound it was the EXACT legal limit (96.1dB) I'll look for his name and delete that part of my post. Tell him I sent you

I might be able to understand the exhaust fix it's, but for "white" Led's in your license light.... that's messed up, unless you have some real dim led's I don't think they can give you a ticket for that.

it sure seems that way... do you cali guys have to actually hide the things you do (such as factory muffler and tailpipe with a cutout and "hidden" mods)? or can you just get them plated from a diff. state? i would prolly try the latter first!!

I haven't done any mods except a header...but other ppl have slips from the CARB (Ca Air Resorce Board) that say their exhaust is legal, as long as it's under 96.1dB and doesn't delete the CAT i think its fine.

How much is it to just pay the ticket? In my other life i had my jeeps, when i got pulled over for being lifted to high. I either had to lower my jeep and change the lift, tires, drive lines, gears which would be thousands of dollars or just pay the $30 for the ticket. Easiest ticket i ever had to pay. How much is the ticket?

good ? if it's something easy tho, like intake I'd just change it and save the money. It's prolly more than $30

hopefully they won't make it retroactive. Like in Cali, certain year cars ('70 and older I think) are CARB exempt, never need to be smogged. that means my dream car is a '70 chevelle with a '71 front clip, crate motor and I could run straight pipes, if it where quiet enough I think, I'm still gonna have hig flow cats and a flowmaster or Magnaflow exhaust....

dude first of all that cop is an _______. Second fight your ticket. The exhaust is an AXEL-BACK, doesn't delete any cat, the dB doesn't go over 95! He's BSing, juts fight your ticket. Your a victim of car profiling. So basically cops think your easy money, modding your car and since a pig pulled you over your scared to go to jail so you pay. You CAN fight your ticket.
