I used to live in Cali, now in vegas, wow, never get pulled over for exhaust, emissions crap, anything. I think it's funny though when a lot of imports get pulled over but most american cars don't. I guess its what sounds better to the ears? Thats why in some situations, i dont believe in leaving it up to the cops judgement, it leaves too much room open for being extremely subjective.

I agree, you got profiled. The license plate light infraction was bogus unless they were too dim or projecting light directly behind you. As for the exhaust, it's legal to use an after market exhaust, however it may be borderline on the noise... you'll have to get it ref'd, but once you do, you'll have proof your exhaust is legal.

I still have to get it smogged or whatever even if I fight it to prove that it is legal, and Ill end up having to pay the fees anyways, so much bs .-. and yeah the cop was a dick, I had some glow sticks still in the wrappers in the glove box when I pulled out the registration and he was like whats that blah blah, and the one that ____es me off is the plate lights, what the hell .... arg -.-

Follow this typically convoluted legal citation carefully. . .

Start at CVC 40610 which states how the officer SHALL issue a fix-it
ticket for any of the violations listed in CVC 4454 (not having valid
registration card in the vehicle) OR a violation of CVC 40522 (which
refers one to CVC 40303.5 which lists what violations are correc-table).
The violations that are correctable include CVC 4000(a) (DRIVING a
vehicle without a valid registration -- it doesn't matter who owns the
vehicle the violation is committed by the DRIVER). The officer MUST
issue tickets for the listed violations as correctable unless he or she
finds any of the following in CVC 40610 (2) (b):

1. "Evidence of fraud or persistent neglect."
2. "The violation presents an immediate safety hazard."
3. "The violator does not agree to, or cannot,
promptly correct the violation."

What is at the officer's "discretion" is not the issuing of a fix-it
ticket, but whether or not the conditions above exist and therefore
prohibit the issuing of a fix-it ticket. It is well worth challenging
the findings of the officer. Fight That Ticket! (and before you do
read the Nolo Press Book, "Fight Your Ticket," for some real legal ad-
vice. If at one's arraignment, the judge will listen to reasoning why
the ticket should have been correctable he or she may dismiss it upon
showing proof of correction. If the judge refuses to listen to one's
argument at arraignment (which is likely), then instead of entering a
plea one needs to demur to the charge. A demur is basically stating
that one is improperly charged, and that the court therefore has no
jurisdiction to hear the case. Read the book "Fight Your Ticket"
and/or get legal advice before doing this though as it is technical in
nature, impedes the normal cash flow of the traffic court, and will
probably ____ off the judge, but its your legal right!

The most obvious way to fix a registration violation is register the
car, but another sure way is to stop driving the vehicle. Often if
you are driving someone else's vehicle the officer will assume that
you cannot correct the violation and therefore issue you a non-
correctable ticket.
Okay So I talked to my friend. He told me that if your smart like I was, you'd save your OEM exhaust and your intake. Just replace all those that the pig wrote on the fix it. On top of that just replace the rear with the original lights and go ask around for a chill cop to write it off. If he's chill about it, you wont have to smog, cause you HAVE A catalytic coverter. Just BS and tell him you gave it away to a friend, lie your ___ off even if he is a cop, he's still a dirty pig. But yeah.

As for me I would go to a donut shop or something where pigs usually hang out. Make some friends randomly asking questions and stuff. Then bring up questions about what if this and what if that, and my friend has this fix-it ticket and such and and ssuch. Once you confirmed things, get them to sign off your ticket.

haha, dude even when people who actually do have a friend in a situation start off a story with "so my friend...", it's assumed that the person is talking about himself and not his "friend". that'd never work

i dont think it matters if it was the oem or not, the trd one looks just like the stock one, and a lot of people keep the stock tip and replace the rest of the piping. meh i think i can get it "legalized" at a smog station, and just get the ticket written off at the local sherrif station which is like 5 minutes from my house.

But take out the CAI, unless they're CARB legal yet.
