Default FlowMaster on the tC??!

I was thinkin', 500$ is alot of money for a TRD Muffler on the TC, and I want my Exhaust 2 look stock like the TRD, I was thinking a FlowMaster Muffler w/ the stock tip?? Would that be okay?
Or what..? I mean the TRD only adds like 3-4 HP and the Flowmaster wouldnt really add much but..Its also like 400$ Cheaper!

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK????

well I guess someone on here has to sound like a rice rocket, Flowmasters have no baffles of matrials in them, pure metal. And pure metal equals pure metal sound just a heads up.

What are you doing!?!?!?! No, do NOT get a Flowmaster. buh, guh, wow...I can't believe someone here is considering it. Flowmaster d-o-e-s n-o-t make good exhausts. They are better than stock on most cars but they are bought almost entirely for their exhaust note, I wouldn't be surprised if you suffered minor losses (n e where from 1 to 3 or 4) hp and tq from a Flowmaster exhaust on an import car...Flowmasters are for domestics, and they are $100 for a reason. WIth the TRD yea you'll pay anywhere from 100 to $200 for the TRD name, and its more expensive, but, shocker! - ITS BETTER. ITS MADE BY BORLA!. Don't get the Flowmaster, it would seriously be just a dumb thing to do.

As for it sounding like a big V8, whoever that said, you are horribly wrong. It can't, it won't. Those big V8 have anywhere from 4.7 to 5.7 litre engines, your not gonna get that kind of note from a 2.4L 4-banger, you just can't.

Gah, don't do it man, don't do it...

Edit: I only know the TRD tC is Borla-made, I dunno if your talking about 1 of the others.

Flowmaster exhausts just don't sound right on 4-cyl engines. They tend to have a tin-like raspy sound. Not very nice, especially under hard accleration. Do some research and wait a while. Not only will it give you time to save up some funds, but also allow time for the aftermarket suppliers to R&D some new setups for the tC.

Just in case anyone asks, yes I am running one of Stylus' exhaust setups and it sounds great. If he can get a better price, then I would highly recommend it. Mine sounds great! That being said, good luck on your research & exhaust purchase. Shoot, congrats on your tC purchase! Saw a BCP at the dealer on Friday, that thing was SWEET!

In reality though if the "TRD" exhaust weren't an option I probably wouldn't even consider it, its overpriced and I haven't seen a Dyno yet. If anything, just buy the Borla exhaust for the tC, it could be a lil better than the "TRD" (which is made by Borla) n e way since it doesn't have to coop. with warranty issues... and it'll be cheaper. Its like buying the Eibach Pro Kit springs for the Celica instead of the TRD ones for more $...they're the same set of springs...just TRD mark up...

Flowmasters are, in general, Baffled mufflers (if they didn't invent it, then they were certainly responsible for making baffles main-stream) if they have a small displacement muffler available then it might be worth a look. If you put a plain two or three chambered flow on a 1.5L 4Cyl then you will get a lame sound and not take advantage of the flowmaster's V8 specific tuning (I guess you would, but at double the RPM of a V8.) And yes, you'll never make a 4,6,10,12 Cylinder engine sound like a V8, its the frequency that makes such an attractive sound. Also large displacement - as the each cylinders displacement gets smaller you get a "smaller" sound. Imagine a little model airplane engine and then a Diesel/Electric Train. Now, easier to see how all the automotive exhaust notes your familiar with fit into that list?

Stylis

Any idea on the time fram for the precision muffler exhaust to come out for the tC?

I also watched some of the video's and the celica, which is the closest out of all those cars that will sound like the tC, sounded kind of like rice. Any one else think so? I could be wrong I hate video's of exhaust because you have to hear them in person.

I thought about doing a custom setup with flowmaster and they did have a make for small engines and import models called the 60 series flowmaster. But after hearing how they sound I'm going with a magnaflow that seems more reputable from a better company.
