I was dropping on my way to drop off my mom at LAX airport. Just finished waxing my car (scion meet this weekend). On my way... this guy was speeding (40mph) and not paying attention as I was turning left (so just like re-ending its considered my fault...however....) he comes out of nowhere because he wasn't there before. Slams into me at full speed (if i was any further across my mother would've been killed) he knocks my car 90 degrees. 18 feet from its original position. He pulls up and parks....RUNS AND HIDES in an el pollo loco and waits for his Wife to get there. Never says a word to me except "if you want to handle this outside of insurance...cool" and walks away. I saw his face just before the collision he wasn't even looking at the road. I personally think he was on drugs or selling drugs...so he ran into the El Polo Loco to flush whatever he had...knew he was in some ____ so called his wife that was all serious and filled out all of his info for him... he wouldn't approach me. Didn't see if my mother or I was ok. Got our info and just took off so the cops wouldn't get there. Also... since I was driving.. my side wasn't even the impact side and I had to FORCE my door open. I forced my hood up to see if I was leaking anything. Everything was shifted into the opposite side of impact. But my engine wasn't cracked cause I wasn't leaking oil or anything (a miracle) it seemed like everything imploded. If I the Point of impact was 2 more feet forward... it would've killed my mom and seriously injured me.

Anyway I'm off to the body shop right now. The tow truck dude said it looks like 7 grand+ though.

So long story short... I guess I won't be getting that ZPI turbo kit anytime soon

I might just get an Evo or Z or something instead. Even though the Tc kills all of those visually.

I hope it's totaled. All the parts in my car that I damaged when I was ran off the road were all replaceable and didn't affect the drive of the car. I don't think yours will be quite the same.

What's going to happen with that? You seem oddly more calm about it than I would be if someone was avoiding me after they caused a serious accident.

I'd let the cops know about it, personally.

 

um. maybe I am reading this wrong, but aren't you at fault in this accident? You turned in front of an oncoming car right? And if he hit you apparently you did not judge his speed correctly and there wasn't enough room for you to safely make the turn. Maybe I missed a fact or something ... like the other guy running a light or something. :/

 

I filed a police report about his behavior and talked to a lawyer. The Lawyer said they can't really do anything because I was at fault for turning..however because of how he acted and admitted guilt...its a 50/50 chance. Insurance is supposed to fix just my car...but won't do anything medical wise. My chest is still killing me... and i keep coughing up mucus...and my mother is still stiff and in pain. The whole situation is just messed up...and I'm a little worried because I have after market stuff on my car. But I think they'll be more concerned about the accident than anything.

damn it sucks loosing youre car, i lost my tC last year i let my bro borrow my tC and he called me around 1am telling me he crashed my car, i was p*ssed, car was considered a total loss, now i drive a Titan, but seeing all the tC's on the streets i regret not getting another one, specially now since my cousin got herself a tC, but ill be getting another one, dont know how long itll be but im definitely gonna be getting anotherone

 

He was nowhere in site... i only saw him JUST before impact. He was doing at least 40 and i looked at his face (in shock) just before we collided...he wasn't even looking at the road. He might've turned out of somewhere and gunned it. But we were crossing an area that says keep clear...cause there was traffic around us. The cars ahead moved forward to let me pass...and all the other cars waited. To let me through...as I went forward... he hit me....but the thing is...there was traffic infront of him too...so regardless if he didn't hit me... he would've rear ended the other people 40 feet infront of him.

 

I don't know about CA but here in VA, if the cops can tell from the damage and severity of the accident that speed was involved, they have no right-of-way when speeding.

I had a 67 year-old woman hit me at an estimated 60+MPH in a 25. I had my truck then and she spun my truck 180 degrees in her Geo Storm!!! Then proceeded to side-swipe two more cars!!! I got a ticket for failure to yield! I took it to court and the police report said that "speed may have been a factor" I got off of the charges and her insurance company had to pay for two totaled cars and two other cars!

you are pretty lucky dude. I had an accident with my tc last weekend and i have craw out from the moom roof because I hit the black ice. Anyway, my fix is about 6000, luckly my car has no structural damage. Drive safe guys!
