Gas tank hole cover gone.
ok so back to the matter at hand. Is this dangerous of is it something that I shouldnt worry about. I dont really know about gas getting into the tank I guess as long as the cap is screwed on tightly air wouldnt get in right?
i remember the features of the emissions systems.. there was a toyota info pdf file online.. and in it was a description of the fuel tank.. and toyota isn't using the flap anymore at all.. so don't know what to tell you that you thought you had one.. provide a picture for proof, because it was never designed with one..
that's for the tC that I read from toyota's info..
danger of something floating around that was never there? no i'd say you don't have anything to worry about..

If the 'flap' was there originally and either fails to close or 'falls off' that should create no problem. Nothing to worry about. Seriously.
Even it is is in the bottom of the tank, it won't clog anything up or get in the way.

None on my 05 tC. I felt around the opening and I can't feel anything there that it could anchor to. I suspect it was never there, but after this post, my memory is starting to play tricks on me. I can almost remember seeing a door....but....I dunno!!!!

OK, mine came without one, too - doesn't mean that all of 'em did, though.
Here's what Vanilla's (my xB) looks like: Over 18 Only

i knew mine had one when i first read this thread because i had to use the gas nozzle to open the little flap to let in the last bit of gas that dripped out. this morning i went to fill up and notice the flap was gone too.
My tC never had one, so either you guys smoke to much pot or are just retarded. I remember noticing the FIRST time I filled up and thought, that was odd. There is also another thread on here that stated they were designed without it.
If someone does have it take a picture..... but i really wouldn't be able to tell you.. never really pay attention to that ... untill now that is. But yeah i dont have one either.
Maximus, I think you are mistaken. I know when first started on this board there was a thread about it, and I remember noticing that with my FIRST TANK that there was no plate. Those were simply there to keep you from sticking a leaded gas nossle up to the hole and putting leaded gas in an unleaded car (since the unleaded nossles were smaller). Since leaded gas is like the dinosaurs and extinct in America, they no longer put those spring loaded plates and instead just leave it open. Eitherway, the plate was never for pressure or anything like that. It was simply to make it impossible to put leaded fuel into an unleaded gastank.
