Im getting a Scion TC this week. Ive read that this car is really loud, What can i modify to make it a bit more quiet. Another thing, Ive been reading here and alot of you mod you TC. What should be modified, I know everything from stock sucks but what should be the main parts of the TC that should be modified(Better handleling, Better Braking etc), I love speed and im a good driver but i know jack about cars. It would be really helpful to get some insights... Thanks

Stock TC is already good the way it is. I do not think it is loud. You cant find a car better quality than a tc under $20 K. If you want fast car then drive neon SRT. But who wants to drive a neon ???

I just came back from test driving it and it is one of the quietest cars i've driven. I actually think it should be louder. I sat with the car idling and listened for a second with the radio off and i couldn't even hear the engine. I was pretty amazed. As far as modding goes, i/h/e is a good place to start, although idk if you would want to race anyone in a brand new car.

 

if you mod it, just get rims and a drop, and HIDs and tint.

The tC is loud because people add things to make it loud. The car is very quiet stock. There are a few things you can do for power without getting loud. The DC header with the stock exhaust sounds decent. If you have an auto, a CAI will add gains without being loud. You will only really hear it at 3500rpm and autos rarely go that high.

 

since you dont like anything loud the biggest engine mod would be a cold air intake . only loud when u hit the gas..

I would get trd springs ,18's rims and a body kit .mayb a big brake kit.. and sway bars if u really want handeling..

if you really think the tc is loud, which i dont think it is, get thicker tires, install dynamat or something similar in the interior. keep windows up all the time

 

NO way its loud in the 1st place ... IF you do think its loud get a skateboard

 

it's loud under two conditions:

when it's raining
above 75 mph, especially with the sunroof cover open.

 

So is every car !!!

loud? maybe going 90 on the highway, with a 5 speed and no music playing, because you'll be at 4000+ rpm because of the short gearing.

tCs are quiet, for the first week, i had to keep my eyes on the tach just to make sure i hadn't stalled, because i couldn't hear the engine over a low amount of music.

taking off, the tC isn't loud really...certainly 1/10th the noise you hear from any dime a dozen honda civic with a fart can muffler

 

it's not loud stock.

everything from stock doesn't suck. if you modify the motor, as a general rule it will be louder.

more power, more speed, more loud.

gotta decide which is more important.
