When I open the box, the door hesitates then drops open. I can gently force it to open with no apparent problems but for getting a bit annoyed. The delay is way slower than the nice dampened effect the stereo door has when it opens.

Is this a “feature,” or do I need to fix something with the box?

It will wear out over time and drop quicker...dont worry about it

Umm i dont use my glove compartment box like at all, but i think the first time i used it, seemed to open just fine to me.

 

how pointless is this post and your "concern" about the glove box door.

1. how often are you REALLY going to need to get into the glove box?

2. how often are you REALLY going to need to get into the glove box REALLY FAST?

come on man....find something better to do with your time.

 

Put your 357 in there and it will open really fast, or you could add some ammo.

 

Yeah, I much prefer those glove compartments that fall open, often spilling their contents on the passenger side footwell.

It's that way for a reason, and I probably speaking for many tC owners whan I say I like it. If you don't like it, open the glove compartment, look on the right side near the edge of the dash and disconnect the damper that lets the glove compartment open smoothly and slowly.
