They might fixem, but I do believe the owners manual states it is NOT covered under warranty (and since I don't feel like getting my manual outta my car, I could be wrong).

I took the tC to the dealer today... They are going to fix the rattles! But they had to order parts for a pulling TSB... a power steering pump and links... Now I have to set an appointment when the new parts come in... Ill let you know how it goes...

I do not think the dealer is fixing any of the rattles. For those of you who do take their car in, do NOT just leave the car. Make sure you drive and their person rides in the BACK seat so they can try to diagnose while riding. They cannot be driving and trying to figure out where the rattle is coming from.

Good luck.

I have posted numerous times about having problems with rattles and noises with my car. The dealership actually fixed a few of them after a few attempts and getting Scion Headquarters involved. They involved the glove box, moon roof, seat belt, and center console.

I also just fixed another rattle on my own the other day. The fuse panel cover on the lower left side of the dash was able to move around ever so slightly and would cause a faint, but constant rattle sound. After months of being lazy I finally took it off and used 4 little foam circles with an adhesive back and fixed the problem. No more rattles from it.

Now I need to isolate my center console vibration and the rear hatch rattle. I believe the center console one has something to do with the climate control ****. Someone posted about a rear hatch fix involving the headliner molding so I will give that a try.

As soon as I fix one problem I find two more. Someday I hope to have a nice quiet ride. I just hope my mental health can last long enough because there isn't a week that goes by that I don't contemplate trading in my tC. Wish it didn't have to be that way.

How loud is this rattle? I don't have a Scion, but was considering getting one. Is it just very minor, loud as human speech, or loud as a blow horn?

Mine wasn't fixed at the dealer or by the Scion tech after 25 days in the shop. I don't have any other noises except a vibrating slinky type sound in the passenger side door.

How loud is the hatch rattle? Mines like a popcorn seed being shaken in a beer can from the back. You can hear it over the CD player.

Also found another suprise when I pulled it into the garage ,NICE STRAIGHT SCRATCHES across the hood as well as the rest of the car (same as swirl marks but just long across the major body panels) If I knew this was gonna be like this I would have never EVER have got this car . Ill be happy to see it go down the road either it be through the Lemon law or through me trading it off , it can be someone elses problem .

Either way regardless how things are I am not keeping mine , maybe others have had good luck with theres but I am getting rid of this POS , its smells LEMONY FRESH to me

I contacted Scion thru the Scion.com website and asked them if they were aware of the hatch rattles, and other unwanted noises. They told me that they had already issued a Technical Service Bulletin. I asked him for the link to view the TSB, but he said I would have to contact a Scion dealer. Can you confirm that there is indeed a TSB issued for all the unpleasant noises.

I questioned him about the amount of people with the rattle problems despite the TSB, and his reply was that some people might have taken it into service before the TSB was released. Has anyone taken it in recently?

I have an 06 with about 750 miles oni t. Around 300 miles ago I started noticing a slight *tik* *tik* *tik* noise coming from the rear passenger side whenever the vehicle goes in an up-down motion. Almost a pinging sound like glass or metal on metal. Mostly over stretches of road where you get constant small vibrations, not over roads where you get a big pothole or speedbump (or maybe it just makes the noise there too but you can't hear it cuz the tire going over it covers up the noise).

It's not very loud for me at all, and doesn't really go over the radio. It's non-existent if I got the sunroof open and the radio on. I would've never for the life of me have noticed it if I hadn't kept reading these boards, haha. BUT, it is there, and about 50 miles ago it started getting worse. Occasionally now there's an actual real honest to goodness vibration where it's like you twanged something. Bwang-yang-yang-yang-yang-yang-yang, but with glass .

Like I said, most of it is unnoticable for me with the radio on or sunroof open, but 1) I'm worried it might get worse, and 2) I used to have a Jetta that was a real driver's car and was great for my passengers. I don't want my passengers (especially the poor souls in back) having to endure this.

I just put some felt tape over the rear bumper stops for the hatch the other day. Did nothing. BUT, I just put some felt tape over the SIDE bumper stops for the rear hatch and took off the license plate holder today. Seemed to totally get rid of the worrisome glass vibration noise, and now it's back to just the tik tik noise. Honestly, it sound like to two different rattles, and the tik one sounds like it's coming from inside the c-pillar, and might be permanent. I can live with that. Just the glass vibration that scared me.

I've been looking it over, and I suspect three things: some of the plastic panelling on the hatch itself seems to have some play, expeically near the passenger side. It doesn't make any real noise when I press on it, but having it slam into the frame when I'm driving might be causing it. Another is the fact that this car comes stock with 17 inch rims and low profile tires, which does nothing for road noise or vibration dampering. The last might be those ribbings inside the c-pillar someone discovered awhile ago. When I brought it to the dealer they said they were about to close, and the guy said real quick that it's just a "dash rattle" and pointed to the c-pillar. Then he quickly recanted and was like, "If-if-if that's the problem at all I mean." Guess it's pretty common enough for him to assume and not be surprised that a new car is rattling. I was at Longo Toyota by the way, where I bought my car because of its reputation there for not being as sleazy as other car dealerships and having really great service (for Toyota). I'd rather not they play with my car, but I wonder if they read this site and actually implement that foam trick the previous poster mentioned, since he quickly pointed to the c-pillar.

I was asking about the dealerships cuz it sounds like they might make it worse opening up the car when they know they aren't going to fix it anyways. I'm thinking I'll try some thicker foam tape if it gets worse, and maybe MAYBE open up the panelling to see if its the wiring that's lose as another poster claimed. Then, last resort, I bring it in. *crosses fingers* If anyone can tell me their experience with Longo, I'd appreciate it.

And oh, heads up to the mods. If it keeps bothering me, I might try to set up the ultimate rattle post, where we get together and get some real stats on this. Like, of us who have the rattle, where'd the car was imported from (heard there's more than just the Aichi factory), if we got the side airbags, how many miles when it started, etc. Maybe there's a pattern.

And oh, Scion/Toyota, if you're reading this: I didn't get any accessories at the purchase date cuz I wanted to make sure it was a decent car first. I was THIS close to getting the Lund door sills, B-pillar applique, new shifter **** and TRD lowering springs before this happened. And my dad, who loves the way this car looks so much, found out about the body kit and lip spoiler by himself and came up to me about getting them.

If things keep going the way they are, this is all officially shot to hell. Good job, guys.

I can tell you this much , between the techs and specialist and as well as me throwing foam tape at this car has had no effect on the rattles . The only rattle I was able to cure myself was the plastic trim pieces that goes around the Hatch itself . Other than that the rattle in the roof is STRUCTURAL . The only thing that changes it , is pulling down on the actual metal that runs through the underside of the roof . Sorry but if I have to shove a piece of wood inside the roof just to make it stop rattling that is B S . Sorry but I shouldnt have to buy a car then fix the car when its brand new . As a new car owner I should just be putting gas in it , making payments and buying new TOYS for it , Not rebuilding the thing . But hey if you can deal with the noises and so forth then by all means go for it . IT IS a nice lookin car , its just the thinking that went into it as well ___ the poor service I have recieved . My rattling started at 2000 miles and progressively got worse . Now I am completely surrounded by rattles and squeeks and I enjoy driving WITHOUT the radion on , ***HINT*** thats why the radio has an off and on switch HELLO .

If the TSB is for the hatch struts, it is a worthless TSB. Did nothing for me. My two rattles were fixed by applying electrical tape to hatch latch bar and jamming a piece of wood above dome light in metal crevice.
