Default Haze Left By Windshield Wipers

Hey!!

For people who uses their windshield wipers... when I use mine, I get a haze every time it wipes and a second later, it starts to fully disappear. Hopefully you're getting what I'm saying. But is that cause by the wipers itself or the windshield?

I wanted to know whether my wipers needed to be change or my windshield needs to be clean.

Thanks.

That's probably water and/or washer fluid evaporating of off the windshield. New blades might help.

What you want to do first is to wet down your windshield then apply Bon-Ami cleanser, mixing it with the water, cleaning the windshield. Then rinse it off. It is a powder and completely glass safe! Toyota recommends it for cleaning windshield grime. (Toyota has issued a service bulletin for this) This grime is what is causing your haze. The wipers are cleaning the surface but the grime is something wipers can't remove. So go to your grocery store and look for Bon-Ami. That will solve this problem you have.

good stuff there man!

and yes, i did use rain-x and i do use my windshield fluid a lot due to parking under a tree at work (have no choice) and then one day it's sunny and dries all the crap onto my windshield and then the next day it rains and it's a mess.

so i guess i'll use bon-ami and just switch out the blades for some newer, better, more advanced blades like the bosch icons everyone is craving about.

might as well get ready for the rainy season. it's picking up. we're having back-to-back winter storms here in the NW.

thanks a lot!

about bon-ami...

there are 3 kinds on their website:

1886 original cleaning powder
cleanser
glass and surface cleaner

which one do i get? i'm assuming glass and surface cleaner right? but then again, i'm not sure if it's in a powder form like sciontc_mich said.

7thgear- good question, didn't know it came in different versions. The tsb that toyota puts out just says "Bon-ami (www.faultless.com) which is the company that makes it. There's no specififying which one in the tsb. I've used the polishing cleanser for all windshields I've had.
You definitely want the powdered version. I would go with the one that i've used before, the cleanser (aka polishing cleanser).

BO030-01 is the number of the tsb if you wanted to go to your dealer and get a copy.

thanks. so get the "polishing cleanser" even though the "1886 formula cleaning powder" is recommended for windshields and glass? the "polishing clceanser" is recommended for appliances. i'm getting this info from www.faultless.com.

I must've gotten lucky with no scratches using the polishing version with all the cars i've had. Thanks for bringing this to my attention! but if faultless is saying to use the 1886 version, then they know. I was doing some searching on the net, and found that people had talked to faultless about the differences, they said they had some reports of the polishing version scratching, but they couldn't duplicate it in their lab. Guess the lawyers jumped in to re-do the labels. I think you'll be fine if you use the 1886 version.

ok, got it now! i was googling bonami for the fun of it and there is an "unofficial" website for BMW and they recommended using the 1886 formula cleaning powder by bonami also.

thanks sciontc_mich! you've been a great help!
