Default Heated Seats 2006 tC

Alright guys,

This might be a tough one because they normally aren't on scions but i have a 2006 tC with heated stock seats that were a dealer add on when I bought the car. I have no idea how they did it or how they would do it. But my driver seat stopped working but the passenger one is working normally.

What do you guys think the issue could be, what should i check?

I was thinking maybe a switch issue?
I was leaning away from a fuss because i would assume that they would put both seats on one fuss but could be wrong.
All the plugs under the driver seat are plugged in so its not that.

Any ideas on diagnosing this would be great. Winter is around the corner and I would like it working again but would rather not take it to the dealer, just for cost purposes.

Most commonly the heating pad under the fabric/leather seat develops an open circuit (broken wire or broken element) from flexing and stretching apart due to getting in and out of your seat over time. But other things can cause inoperative heated seats, like a blown fuse or a disconnected connector. I believe you have a defective heating pad. If you access that plug under the seat, get a multimeter and see if you have continuity. Or try giving B+ supply and gnd directly to that plug to check if it's warming up the seat.

The heating element would make the most sense because the passenger is working which doesn't get used nearly as much.

What fuse location would they use? Do you have a fuse diagram?

Well, it's not factory installed, so that kind of information is not available anywhere. It would depend on who installed it. Although, I've seen most of these aftermarket heated seats getting their B+ supply from the underdash fuse block. There is probably a wire fuse splice connected to one of the vehicle's fused circuits. I don't know how it's installed on yours, but usually that wire I mentioned would have an in-line fuse. Just follow down that wire if you see one attached to the fuse block.

Hey guys I have a 2006 Scion tc wih stock heated seats. Both driver and passenger seats aren't heating. Any troubleshooting ideas? The fuse box diagram in the car doesn't show what fuse it is - do you know which one I should check? Appreciate any help!
