I think this has to do with the electronic fuel injection of the car... if the pedal is not being pressed... the fuel injection is at 0.

Edit: Well, it is injecting enough fuel to idle the engine.

However I would think that if this engine was carbeurated(sp) then it would suck the gas through the carb... (not sure, dont have much experience with carb'd cars).
