Default Help with hatch

My Hatch door wont pop up or stay up at all. It sucks because I have to hold it up. It stopped holding up like last week. Anyone know what I couldve done to mess it up? If anything ill take it to the dealership and ask if its covered by warranty

Yeah, just replace the lifts/struts. You can either get the same oem ones, or upgrade them (esp. if you have a spoiler) to a heavier-duty one. Sparks has the latter cheaper ( LINK ).

extremely easy, you need a flat head and a second set of hands

need the extra set of hands to lift up the hatch when it falls on top of you.

happened to me when i was taking off the steel hood of my 1968 chevy truck. the bolt slipped and the hood pinned me at my upper chest, pretty close to my neck. nobody was around so i had to lift the hood off of me which was no easy task when you're under it.

i nearly pooped my pants

Default went to dealership

So I went to the dealership today and found out its been passed 3 years and im not covered by warranty. I walked over to parts and they told me "each" shock for the hatch cost $130. EACH. I gave a simple thanks and walked away scratching my head haha... well i guess im going to have to order some off trd sparks.

Does anyone know if this is a trustworthy site?
http://autoguide.ca/apf/scion-engine..._35321hgy.html

Or should I go with...
http://trdsparks.com/displayparts.ph...&parts_id=1070

Im kinda worried about the heavy duty ones because i dont want my liftgate to be too resistant when I pull down..

trust trdsparks. Ken is the main guy over there, it's a reputable dealership that has a Scion community presence. Good prices, great service. Definitely give them a call. Your other link? i wouldn't trust them but hey that's just me

I think other people were recommending the heavy duty just because they might be made stronger. Since the stock ones died, you buy those again they might die at the same time again.

here's my other thought, I had an another car with hatch struts go bad before. I went to my local NAPA Auto parts store and paid $30 instead of the dealerships $90 for the pair. Might want to check them out too.
