Default Help me choose the tC + options

Hey all,

I currently have a truck (Toyota Tacoma) and it's all done up...my dream truck, but I don't use it as a truck enough to justify the 15 mpg haha....so I am setting my sights to the tC. I've looked around and I'm in the process of lining up the finances to make it happen. I will special order my tC because none of the dealerships around me have what I would want in stock. Here are the options i'm electing to get:

Scion Paint Protection Film
Rear Lip Spoiler
Fog Light Kit
Rear Bumper Applique
Mud Guards
Custom Fit Car Cover
Auto-Dimming Mirror
Sport Pedals
Floor Mats
TRD Shift **** Type 2
TYC LED tail lights

Let me know if anyone has a particular reason that I should NOT get any of these options on my tC. Also, here's my list of mods that are sure to happen (thus far):

-Pioneer AVIC-z110bt head unit w/ nav.
-Black VRD grilles
-Paint the section of the front bumper between the grilles black (BEFORE paint protection film goes on of course)
-Smoke the taillights (all but the clear/chrome part of the TYC LED tail lights)
-Clazzio seat covers (color undecided)
-CAI (suggestions on which one?)
-Subwoofer & amp (undecided)

So that's all I have so far...hit me up if anyone has any recommendations/cautions on anything I have listed here. Thanks!

Scion Paint Protection Film - get clearbra or something after purchase
Rear Lip Spoiler - buy later online and install yourself
Fog Light Kit - buy later online and install yourself
Rear Bumper Applique - buy later online and install yourself
Mud Guards - buy later online and install yourself
Custom Fit Car Cover - why?
Auto-Dimming Mirror - if you need it
Sport Pedals - buy later online and install yourself
Floor Mats - buy later online and install yourself
TRD Shift **** Type 2 - there are MANY other ***** out there
TYC LED tail lights - buy later online and install yourself

Check TRDSparks for prices on most of this stuff - they're probably cheaper than your dealer (even with shipping).

yes I would suggest not buying extra from the dealership

You will save a TON of money if you buy everything online and do yourself.

A good example would be the spoiler you want. The dealer will drill holes into your hatch, whereas if you buy it online afterwards, you could just 3M tape it on to avoid holes.

If you look online at the prices of all the parts you want and then look at the dealership prices, it's like night and day.

One thing I DEFINITELY would get from the dealer is the paint protection film. That is your clear bra, and from what I understand they're charging $395 which is very reasonable.

Scion Paint Protection Film -good get from dealer and you may never get a nick lol
Rear Lip Spoiler - buy later online and install yourself cuz dealer drill holes in your trunk and 3m tape will hold it just fine
Fog Light Kit - get the vrd's if you are planning on getting the vrd grills cuz the bottom grill will not go on with the factory fogs
Rear Bumper Applique - get from dealer or buy online and take to a tint place to get instailled only cost me 30 for it and then 25 for the instal this way.
Mud Guards - buy later online and install yourself much cheaper
Custom Fit Car Cover - if your parking outside for winter go for it
Auto-Dimming Mirror - if you need it
Sport Pedals - buy later online and install yourself much cheaper on ebay and get the dead foot pedel from scion pro
Floor Mats - buy later online save mad money
TRD Shift **** Type 2 - there are MANY other ***** out there
TYC LED tail lights - buy from them if you dont feel like taking your bumper off but your gunna have to for the vrd grills for the front bumper so save money and buy the anzo's online

Yea, I started looking at these things aftermarket and the list is shrinking haha...I'm wondering though about the clear bra from the dealer because I want to paint the front of the front bumper black...so I think I should just take care of that straight off the lot and then get the bra elsewhere. Not sure...

Get an Injen CAI, and yeah dont get anything from the dealer.

VRD Fogs are much better than the OEM fogs.

Dont expect any real performance gains from a CAI or exhaust. Bolt ons wont do anything but make your car sound nice.

oem fogs looks good with this lip kit. just throw some jdm yellow lights in them.. get a hid kit for the headlights and you are good to go.

Either save the $ or spend it elsewhere. As others have indicated, it won't really improve performance, and if you do it just for sound/looks, then it's risky because it's not legal. There isn't any CARB approved CAI for the tC, other than the stock unit, so consider the implications for emissions testing, along with cops trying to find ticket items.

an FYI on the rear bumper applique, you don't need to take it to a shop and pay them to install it.

Just take your time and do it yourself. it's pretty easy. it will save you the $25 by doing it yourself...

Scion Paint Protection Film - dont get it thats a joke .

The rest sounds cool, but see if you can work in free install on that stuff to make it worth while.. if not go to trdsparks.com and buy all that stuff and get it installed elsewhere.
