quick question.. does this rule apply to all cars? like lets say im getting an evo from the dealer, would it be best to hunt down parts elsewhere? or is this only for tc's since we have trdsparks

i would say so. stealerships amp up prices, and their installation costs are ridiculous. If you handy with the car, or know some1 that could help you with the installations then it pays off ordering the parts yourself and installing them yourself.

I installed my springs my self, for ____s and giggles i called up my local stealership and they quoted me 650$ for the install LOL.

Scion Paint Protection Film skip and get clear bra
Rear Lip Spoiler buy after purchase and install your self it is easy
Fog Light Kit look in to VRD fogs
Rear Bumper Applique skip
Mud Guards skip
Custom Fit Car Cover
Auto-Dimming Mirror they work poorly if you tint
Sport Pedals
Floor Mats
TRD Shift **** Type 2 skip and get a nice Sparco one for $20 more
TYC LED tail lights

for what you have listed you almost can get the TRD BBK and then you have something worth the money.

Scion Paint Protection Film- if you know how to do this than do it yourself it will be cheaper. if not best to let them do it =]
Rear Lip Spoiler- nice choice unless you plan on getting the carbon fiber one. even so you can get it cheaper else where
Fog Light Kit- After you get this you might want the vrd. they look nicer and only cost 100 dollars via ebay
Rear Bumper Applique- waste of money. get elsewhere
Mud Guards- if your place rains alot i guess
Custom Fit Car Cover- might be useful but could be cheaper on ebay
Auto-Dimming Mirror- no point
Sport Pedals- def can get it cheaper on ebay. i got mine for half the price. the obx ones
Floor Mats- sure why not
TRD Shift **** Type 2- if you like it for sure than get it. but im pretty sure you can get it cheaper else where
TYC LED tail lights- keep looking on classified on here. people sell them for SOOO MUCH cheaper

hope this helps!

Don't bother with the auto dimming mirror if your planning on putting tints on the car.

helpful thread.

i was thinking of asking the dealer to install the OEM lipkit, coilovers, and performance brakes.

but from what is apparently the consensus, save money and search elsewhere for the performance parts.

the lip kit, tho, comes prepainted and installed and isn't fiberglass.

idk it depends what u like i like the five axis lip its a bit more than the one from the dealer but maybe u should look into it its like 899 plus paint which u should be able to get done for like 300 at least i cann find people in tampa to do it and then the install which is probaly like 200 but the dealer lip kit is like 999 but i dont think thats instaled and idk if i would go with a coilover that the dealer instals i might take the car to a performance shop and get a different brandd

u could do that or with the money u save from a turbo pay the car off i would never turbo a car thats not turboed from the factorryy lol it cost wayyyyyy to much and puts more stress on the engine plus the tc isnt built for speed and even w a turbo its not that fast if u wana go with a turbo get like a gti or somethinnggg that comes stock with at least 190hp plus not 161 lol

Well i would suggest ordering the TC with the LSD. I didnt and i wish i had. No worries i will just install it myself and save a ton on the install. That would be the one upgrade i would have them do.
Also to point out the fact dealerships charge way to much because i have a few TRD parts and they were redicously over priced.
Dealership Prices:
Trd Intake-$400
TRD Black Wheels-$2000 for 4
TRD Black Chrome Strut bar-$250+

The price I paid:
TRD black Wheels-$1000 for 5(like to have full size spare)
TRD Intake-$200
TRD Black Chrome Strut bar-$187
All the TRD parts i bought were brand new and have worked perfect since i have had them.

But after you do get the car i would suggest new sway bars, i have a hotchkis set on mine and best investment ever made. I have them set just on the softest setting and it was a dramtic increase in control/handling.

Oh and try and do all the work yourself, dont pay anyone. learn moe about the car and then if something breaks or makes a funny noise you will have a better understanding of what and where it is coming from.

Good luck
