Help me fix my CEL
hey guys, i need help
this is my set-up
Megan Header - Megan Down Pipe - Megan drift spec
i put on 3 anti-foulers and i still have a CEL on
does anyone have any ideas as to y this i happening?
i started with the original 2 fouls then went to 3, still didnt work, is my CEL gonna do anything to my performance?
I NEED HELP!!!

You need to get it to turn off. With it always on, you wont know if another codeis set, which could be an issue.
From what I gather, the antifouler works sometimes and doesnt others.
Personally, I would have a shop weld an O2 bung (or cut the pipe and use a band clamp that has one, but welding one in is the better way to do it) behind the second CAT (I am assuming you still have a second cat in the system) and move the second sensor back there and plug the original hole. This will perform the same function as the OEM setup did and will address the issue proprely. The other method would be to buy an O2 sim, but I think the ones out there are a bit overpriced from what I remember. But to double check, you are placing the antifoulers on the second O2, correct?

I would recommend doing it the right way, getting a high flow catalytic converter welded into your mid-pipe and relocating your 2nd O2 sensor right after it. I did this on mine and its worked beautifully.
You can get this Magnaflow one with a 2.5" inlet/outlet for about $50 shipped (http://www.performancepeddler.com/de...CT_ID=MAG53006):

Their shipping is superfast, and just bring it to you a local shop and have them install it for as cheap as possible. Also have them drill a hole and put an O2 sensor bung behind it for you, then cut/extend the wires for the O2 sensor and you're done. A legal exhaust with no more CEL (assuming this is the only thing causing the CEL), what could be better?

i dont think u understand the whole purpose of my set-up, putting in a high flow cat will reduce HP, which in my case, i dont care nor give a rats a$$ about the law, i want no cat converter, and i want no restrictions, I WANT ALL POWER
the purpose of why megan racing sells this exhaust kit is to bolt on, if i wanted to instal a high flow cat i would of got some generic pipe and cut it, im not cutting my megan racing mid pipe, thats stupid, i paid a lot of money for my set up.
i simply asked if i can remove my CEL while keeping my exhaust set-up

Here is a suggestion.........use the nice mid pipe for track days and have a custom pipe bent and put on for daily driving...........with acat on it.........
Followed abeautiful RX7 the other day...........nicest one I have seen........shame he stunk like sulfer..........I was embarased for him......
yea i get that, but i dont wanna spend more money on another mid pipe, and a cat, and have it put in, the whole point of my topic that i started is to fix the problem and to stop the CEL
i dont want ideas or suggestions on adding stuff, damn it, is no one listening to what i said in the first post

thank you for explaining that captainlaziness
would u know of anything to fix this problem
let me explain it in more details, i originally installed my megan drift spec exhaust system and it was nice, then i installed my megan header and the CEL went off.
so i did the regular antifoul fix but i had to use 3 of them to fix it rather then the standard 2
once i installed my megan down pipe w/ the 3 antifouls my CEL went off again instantly, so now im driving around with a CEL
I want to know what i can do w/o buying a cat, cuz i dont want one, to fix this problem

Well maybe try two anti-foulers? Three might be overkill and the O2 sensor's not getting enough airflow.
I had a CEL after installing my Megan header and it went away with two 'foulers. Strange thing though, the CEL came back after about 600 miles only to go away a couple days later. It's still not back.

The root cause is that the second 02 is expected to have a different reading from the first. The only reason this is done in this manner is to tell the ECU that the cat is doing its job. The antifouler pulls the second 02 out of the flow a bit to trick the ECU into thinking the cat is doing its thing, even though it isnt there. If that doesnt work (and it seems not to for many people) then you can try an 02 sim or adding a high flow cat and moving the bung, as mentioned.
In either case, the primary 02 is doing its job just as it should and the system will mix fuel accordingly.
well im NOT gonna buy a high flow cat, i will not cut my megan mid pipe and put in a stupid weld on garbage, i refuse to do that, if an O2 sim is what it takes then thats what ill do, but ill try the 2 antifoul thing first, maybe 3 is over kill and i was thinking captainlaziness said is prob whats wrong, ill go try that
heh.. so you add something that causes an issue, yet doing it the right way and welding in the right parts is garbage?
If the o2 sim (which is way overpriced the last I saw) fixes it then great, if 2 antifoulers does, that is great, and hope it doesnt come back at random. I know plenty of people with plenty of different cars with the same issue, so I have seen it before. For some it works great, for some, it randomly comes back.
But dont call the right way to build the exhaust garbage just because you dont want to do it.

excuse me but it is garbage, i for one know, i am in automotive school and if something was build by a company then it was built for a purpose.
not for some1 to buy it, then have problems, and have to buy more garbage, if a simple antifoul will fix it then great, just like u said...great

They built it so you would buy it and put it on your car. You did so.. they got thier purpose out of it. Apparently you are early on in school or you wouldnt be asking these questions, or saying such naive things as what you said above. So dont go throwing that around as if it is supposed to make those of us that have been around a while take your word for gospel.
So lets think about what you said:
"if something was build by a company then it was built for a purpose. "
Thats right, Toyota (the company that built your car) put the two O2 sensors on for a purpose. You decided to break thier design by removing one CAT. Then you tried what those of us that have been around a bit longer know may work or may not. It did not for you, so we gave you options.
So what is "garbage" is that you bought a header with no precat (which we all know will throw a CEL) and now you think that doing it right is is a bad idea.
So if you arent willing to do what it takes to fix the issue, dont by incomplete crap (header without a spacer for the O2 or an option to get a sim with it.. like all aftermarket headers these days) to start with.
I am not against running a header (good money spent on very lttle real gain.. but not against you for it). I am not against trying the antifouler. If that doesnt work, the only way I would try an O2 sim is if I built the circuit myself (the money charged for them is just too high for what it does). But like I said, I would have just put the high flow in and moved the bung to start with. Then I would have the correct setup for the car.
But hey, you are hellbent on a bandaid fix. I hope it works and keeps working for you. But dont ask questions and bash all the ideas you dont care for. You asked the question, so you dont know it all now do you?
Have fun
