HELP! My 2006 SW tC caught on fire.
To make a long story short..please see pictures.
I guess everyone wants to know what happend:
I was trying to jump my brother's Toyota Tundra and the lights came on but the truck wouldn't start. Then everything started smoking and then about 5 minutes later, the plastic on the cables caught on fire and basically ruined my car and not the truck.
Yes, it was sad to see the cables melting through my car. I don't know what caused it...ya...maybe they were on wrong but still...it was really bad. When I had my Mustang, I used to put them on wrong sometimes and that has NEVER happened. Maybe it was because I was trying to jump a Tundra....
Basically, the body shop quoted me $1,200 to repair this.

I am trying to find someone who is willing to sell me a/their front bumper and driver side headlight.
I wouldn't mind getting an OEM front lip but I'm williing to go with an aftermarket one that looks good.
Pleae help me or guide me to someone that can help!
Thanks!

Wow, that's pretty crazy. I would suggest a set of cables that don't let you reverse polarity, or getting one of those "jumper" kits that has the battery built into it.
You were lucky the battery didn't explode or worse.

I hate to say it, but this is why I don't jump anyone else's car with mine. This is just one of many things that can go wrong when trying to jump someone's car. I am really sorry to see this happened to you, and I hope you find the parts you need!
The Dodge Nitro commercial. That is a sick looking truck, the need to put the 6.1 Hemi in it and call it an SRT. Anyway, jumping a car can be safely done if the people doing it know how to do it. Even the jump boxes aren't fool proof, my bro fried a a used Jag at the dealership b/c he hooked it up wrong. Basically user error is the cause of most things like this. I've never used cheap cables but I'm sure they could cause a problem too. Good thing there was a wire extinguisher near by, that could have gotten bad very quickly. It's also a good thing that you are alive too. Just try and be more careful next time. I triple check the cables ever time I jump a car just b/c of stuff like this. I usually have to tell the person to calm down and wait a minute. It's kind of funny. You still have your life and your car isn't that badly damaged. You are a lucky man.
you put the cables wrong, this happened to me a while back when i was trying to jump my wifes sister's car with my wifes car. Its was dark and i couldnt see the positive and negative sign but since in most cars theres a red cap on the positive i put the positive where the cap was. What was f***d up was the the cap in my wifes sister"s car was in the negative, so after about a minute the cables started smoking and caught on fire i had to grab them so i burned my hand somewhat, the good thing is that it only burned about an inch on both cars' headlights
