Default Help with start mods please :D

Hello all again, I know its been a few months since Ive been on, its been a hell of a busy time with school and sports. So basically my car is still stock and I wanna change that. I want to get the new eclipse navi system, but after that, I really dont know enough about parts and accessories to do anything. Not sure how into bodykits I am, simply because of cost. I am interested tho in, maybe a CF hood and spoiler. After that, Im at a complete standing point. Can anyone recommend anything? Pics of stuff would be appreciated too!

Thanks!

Definitely change the springs. Get a good drop - the stock tC is screaming for it.

Personally, I'd recommend the Hotchkis Springs (I have them ). But many people also love the Teins and many also have the TRD ones (less of a drop). Search the Corner Carvers forum for more info on specifics.

That's one idea. I'd do that before a hood and definitely before a spoiler. Then maybe an intake (K&N, Injen?).

now as i said, i know nothing about all this stuff. sprins will lower the car, and make for a smoother ride? intake increases hp?

Springs will usually lower (the amount of drop varies by manufacturer) and provide a slightly stiffer ride - which could help cornering and overall handling. If you can, it's also suggested to replace the shocks/struts at the time you replace springs, but many people don't. The lower ride could cause wear on the stock shocks/struts faster than normal.

Now if you want to do a good suspension package, go for springs, shocks/struts, rear sway bar (maybe front as well) and possibly a front strut tower bar.

The sway bars (rear is most important for FWD car) will stablize the car when you're turning and you should notice better handling/cornering. The front strut tower bar is supposed to make the body a little more rigid and also improve handling. The noticable difference is usually negligable though. Many people may get them for the look under the hood.

An intake should increase horsepower... in basic terms it allows more air to flow into the engine (typically supposed to be colder air as well) and this will increase your performance. Again, the amount of (noticable) gain will vary by manufacturer.

* and if i've mispoken on any of this, please feel free to correct me *

You can check the list of mods on our site from Scion and TRD as well as Hotchkis and others just to get an idea - www.trdsparks.com. You also might want to check out www.yoursciontc.com. for some good threads on suspension. One of the good combo's if you're looking for more control, but not too much of a drop, would be the TRD Springs and the TRD Rear Sway Bar. Hope that helps a bit.

Those are essentially "knockoffs" ... if you read the auctions, the first one is an "HKS Style" muffler. HKS is a real brand and more than $20, but this one is just styled after it - hence the cheap.

Use this as a rule: if it's on ebay and you think it's too good to be that cheap - it is. Don't buy it.

I'd stay away from ebay for the time being. A stock tc can benefit most (in the near term) from suspension upgrades. Front/rear sway bars found on trdsparks.com, struts and springs would be mods I'd consider first.

I personally would not make any muffler additions without upgrading the entire exaust system. It seems like the amount of money spent on a muffler is a percentage of the cost for a full upgrade. It doesn't make sense to me.

Dude are you serious^^^^^^^^^ Anything from EBAY costing 15.95 will not be a performance mod especially an exhaust. That is just straight up rice.
