help! strange sound....ideas?
so lately, i've been hearing a weird sound from the suspension, specifically coming from the rear driver's side. it happens basically when i go over a bump or quick hill or dip, where the springs decompress and then compress again.
it sounds sorta like an old spring matress. any ideas on what it is?
i've jumped up and down in the trunk to bounce the car but could not reproduce the sound. so it appears it needs to be somewhat violent bump or dip. i've also jacked it up to take a look underneath, and everything looks normal.
TIA for the help.

That's funny, I had this same problem just a couple of weeks ago. Going over speedbumps and the back of my car would make a horrible creaking sound.
The dealership ended up putting silicone over the rear bushings and adjusting the TRD rear sway bar.

No. It's been quiet so far. He said it was a permanent fix and that he's seen many tC's this winter with the same problem. Not sure if you have a sway bar, but I changed mine from race to street per the tech's recommendation.
yeah, actually, that happened to me when i put on my trd suspension, the front sway bar bushing went bad, and it went away when i replaced them with the hothckis sway bars.
so check your sway bar bushings.

thanks for the help guys.
yeah, i was told that the bushing went bad because of the lower rideing height or whatever, new bushings aren't expensive, i think the dealership quoted me like 22 dollars, but i just really wanted the hotchkis set, so i got them.
i got the same problem, every time i go over a bump or dip i hear a wierd sound coming from the suspension as you said it sounds like and old spring matress and i'm completly stock, could it be the springs?
