Default hid ballasts' life

just wondering how many times do you have to repeatedly turn the headlight on and off for a hid ballast to go out on you?

is there any kind of signs that your ballast is about to go out?

and does a ballast that is about to go out affect light output?

thanks.

when you have flickering, then that means your ballasts are about to die. Then, the bulb starts changing colors.

the bulb will change colors if they are new, but generally they dont change much after that...well at least for oem ballasts...

Default hid ballasts

we aren't talking about OEM ballasts. those things basically last for ever...haha

anyway back to after market ballasts...it will start by flickering, even after warm-up.

then your hid will change colors and eventually light out put will diminish.

if you park facing a wall turn your lights on and just look and compare. you can notice either a difference in coloration or brightness of your lights.

hope this helps.
