Default High speed driving question...

I searched and really couldn't find an answer. Anyway, I have the tC completly stock and I don't know if it is just me or normal, but I noticed just driving at around 60-70 miles per hour (not really that fast) on the highway that on turns, not really sharp, but curves that the car doesn't seem that stable... Is this just me or completly normal? I guess what I'm trying to say is that when I turn the wheel to stay with the curve it feels like I'm swerving too much or something. I'm not sure if I'm really explaining this right.

I dont have mines yet but I had a 350z. That thing was FAT! the weight made it more stable in curves at high speeds. The tC is slightly lighter so I would imagine it would take a curve pretty well. I think you just have to get used to it.

my tc is also stock and at 110 - 115 i was changing lanes and going with the curves in the road just fine. granted it was a highway so the curves were not very sharp but 60 - 70 is nothing you should have no trouble

It's no more or less stable than any stock (non-racing-equipped) compact coupe. Way better than what I came from (Saturn coupe). On normal interstate turns, it's fine.

If you want to take state-highway-type turns (like on Highway 1 or some of those roads in Texas) at speed, you might want to equip your car for performance driving. Sway bar, tie bar, springs, and especially better tires.

Then make sure you know how to drive those turns properly - every guy in America will say he knows how, but only a handful actually do, as proven by accident statistics. There are performance driving schools you can go to.

Even after all that, beware of any turn named "Deadman's Curve." ;)

here's a simple thought.. have you checked your tire's air pressure when it's cold (not driven over night, preferably)..???

if that checks out okay.. it might be the OEM tires.. they are kinda "soft".. I noticed a huge difference in how crisp the steering became once i switched to the pirelli pzero nero m&s tires..

but check that air pressure... and save some money for other tires.. don't need ya losing it for tires that don't grip like the other tires..

I've reached 105 MPH while passing on a turn, and it was very smoothe...I was impressed...

no strut bar or springs...

You all need to take into account what type of car you drove before the tC, or what cars you have driven.

IIRC adding only a strut bar is going to add push (or understeer) to the car and will therefore not make it handle any better...

Even at 115 and 120 as long as you don't make any jumpy moves it will glide around almost any interstate turn without breaking a sweat... but if you want to make it more stable you could always drop it and change tires... that makes a world of difference

if the car is "swerving" when you take a freeway turn at 60 mph...there is something wrong with your driving...at least imo. i take my xB out on turns going easily that fast and it seems stable...although i do have a drop, wheels, and sways. go online and take a look at some lines and how to take turns...then go out and try it again

I'm guessing you have body roll. Get sportier springs and you should see better results. Springs like TRDs usually have a drop that will make the center of gravity on your car lower, adding a bit more stability.

and then again it might be as simple as him/her checking the air pressure in the tires.. other thought is that the OEM tires are kinda soft.. that could attribute the uneasy feeling.. but my money is on air pressure not being up enough (running low)..
