Hood Will Not Close
After installing NST radiator diversion panel with DME tie downs, my hood refuses to close. It clicks but then it won't lock. I can push it all the way down but it will not lock.
1. Has anyone had this problem?
2. Does anyone know what the solution might be?

Yea i was thinking about removing the entire panel but its freaking cold outside. I live in chicago where the weather hits below zero. Im concluding that its probably not the panel but I should remove it to see if I can properly pin point the problem.
I think its the latch..because the panel has more then enough clearance. Its awkward though because my latch always worked fine.
Oh and what are the hood stops?

ok nevermind, I discovered what the hood stop looks like. The problem was the latch. I went out and removed the panel, still the problem existed. So I concluded it was my stupid latch. Out of frustration, I took the screw driver and started to jam it at the latch. Minutes later the latch works.
My conclusion is I need a new latch and toyota makes garbage latches and overprices all the oem parts. You know what they say, if at first you dont succeed, get up and stab the crap out of your stupid latch.

your logic is pretty much blaming Toyota for having garbage parts if something happened after YOU did something?? really?? wow dude.
you need to either think before you say something, and/or reword it so you don't sound like a moron

well I have already concluded that the problem was not the faulty installation of the panel. In no way or form can the panel effect the latch. I assumed the tie down could have affect the hood from closing but I removed the tie downs and it discovered the tie downs was not the issue. Maybe I got a latch more prone to defections or wear and tear. Who knows but I am sure my latch is a pos. I have two tCs to compare so I also can justify that my latch is not working properly.

when something wrong happens to the car.. and just so "coincidentally" happens right after you do something to the car..
hmm.. i think.. coincidentally.. it's because something was done to the car

yes you can think that but that is not always the case. Lets say your latch was bound to not work after a random number of tries. You open your hood to install something that has no effect on the latch and then the latch brakes. The problem was not created by faulty installation or modification, the problem was created because the latch has reached the limit of maximum tries before failure. In the end, my latch is low quality. Maybe I got the poorly made latch out of a thousand latches but it still concludes in my opinion that my toyota can make garbage.
I read my post over and saw that I accidentally placed "my" in between that and toyota. That was not my intention, just a typing error. If you remove the "my" then the sentence would make better sense. Either way, I am entitled to my own opinions. If I somehow offended you because of my opinion then sorry.
did you take the hood latch off and look at it?
hood latches arent things that typically just go bad, especially on cars that less than 10 years old.
maybe it just needs some grease, maybe the latch was actually close when you though it was open, maybe the spring needs to be adjusted.

operating right of now, i exaggerated the stab. I poked at it to see if anything was caught onto it. Maybe it just needed a little rub to make it work. Any ways it works as of now but im sure the problem will re-happen
