Hood Will Not Close
The latch has a small adjustment in it, It does not move much but there is a very small adjustment. When I had my tC, After I installed my CF hood it would do exactly as you described. Make adjustments with the stoppers and make adjustments with the latch, your hood will close. Like has been said before, very unlikely its toyotas problem. You probably messed up an adjustment not knowing it.
My point was if you disturbed the release cable at all it may affect the latch and keep it released. They really don't move much to release the hood and if the release cable is not fully returned the catch (not the safety catch) will not grab the hood and keep it closed all the way. Also if the hood does not bottom out on the catch it will not latch completely. The hood stops can be adjusted a little up and down to prevent rattles but if set too high can prevent the hood from closing enough to latch completely. If it is off to the side a little the same thing can happen. Sticking the screwdriver into the latch was a good idea to see if it was working at all - then you just pull the hood release to open it back up again, making sure that the cable moves freely. Having the hood POP open while flying down the road is not a good thing so make sure it is working properly.
