How long do you plan on owning?
keeping my car. it will outlast me. funny thing is i'm not even joking. i have too much into it to part it out or sell it. and beginning another project is just spending way much more money that i don't want to do. my tc is for fun and i will always keep it for fun. my daily is just driving. i don't see myself keeping my 350z for too much longer. after i pay it off i will either keep it for a few more years or trade it in on whatever catches my eye at that point in time.
just like everyone else..........i plan on keeping my tc forever...and most of you already know why....very good DIY car.......cheap to replace things..etc
but i do plan on getting a 06 evo 9 as a toy or weekend car......

I want to keep mine till after college and have a steady job. If I get a really good job, I'll get a loaner car and fully rebuild the car to RWD and throw in a nice motor and turbo. If the toyobaru is as good as the prototype I might have to scratch the before idea.
I'm tired of the tC LOL. I don't even fit in it anymore. When I first got it I was thin but now that I packed on muscle, it is hard getting in and out of the car. My next car is going to be a sick truck/suv or a hummer. I want them to make a hummer that gets 30 mpg.

I'll probably keep mine for quite a while. At least until I start making that $250,000/year that supposedly is the going rate for my career path after about 10 years of time put in. Wishful thinking if the economy stays this way, but oh well. I'll be okay. I might keep it to give to my kids though. Toyotas can take a heck of a beating! Most likely I'll do some mods and sell it as a collector car.
Good luck with selling as a collector car. There are so many tC's running around and some really nice ones too and none of them will be considered collector cars except for maybe some 17 year old rice boys if the economy causes all the cars to go green with no power.
Either way, I'm sure some 16 year old kid would buy it. They don't care about going green.
Well unlike most of you I dont think I am keeping my tC....between the economy and my wife being sick and in the hospital for about 2 months...I really dont think I can keep it. Shes not working anymore and wont ever. Shes waiting for a kindey and with her not working and me losing my job at Toyota and now working for much much less....well the tC has to go. But hopefully I wont be outta the Scion game for too long. I plan on buying a Volvo 850 or maybe another Integra. Of course not spending much on the beater car since I dont have much to spend lol. I wish I could keep the tC. But with the payment and the insurance note its just a bit much. If and when I were to get another car I would only get liability on it and it would be like 60 bucks or so. So thats much better then the 214 I am paying now(Yes I have a ticket or two....). But once we get back on our feet I hope there may be another model in the line up as well as a new tC or something. If not I really like the xD so thats my choice now for the near future. So my answer is NOT LONG on owning my Scion tC. Had it for almost 2 years and loved every second of it. Just wish I payed more on it when I did have the money.....darn. O well....thats life!
like many before me...mine is paid off. I have taken immaculate care of it so at 40k it is in perfect condition. So needless to say I am keeping it for a long time, even after I am a Dr 12/2010. It was the first car I bought brand new so I don't think I will ever get rid of it.
Growing up my Dad had an '89 Camry that we all considered his "work car". He always had something else like a BroncoII, YJ Wrangler, or Cherokee for fishing/camping trips...but the Camry suited his need for a dependable vehicle that got decent mpg. The Camry made a great vehicle as we moved across the country many of times, dealing with snow some years, and others just a lot of rain. It's amazing what a little I4 FWD car can handle when maintained properly.
I hope the tC is to my kids what the '89 Camry was to me and my siblings. After 12 years of ownership and 270K miles, my sister and I were in a slow speed T-bone known as the kiss of death for that Camry. We were fine, but sold the Camry to our neighbor. He put new doors on it, and from what I know it's still on the road....pimping it's burgundy interior.
I'll be keeping my '05 for some time. 100K on the clock, it gets decent smiles per gallon, and it's a Toyota.
