Dude... you're paying $27,864 for your tC???

What did you have added? Or are you paying interest up the ying yang?
I'm paying about the same in the end (actually 27969.48 ). First taxes got me (9.1%) and the fact that I got the prepaid maintenance and 7 year / 75,000 mile warranty. Also got about 1500-1600 in extras.

But I'm paying $500 per month, so I should be able to shave off some of that interest. Plus next year I'll start looking at re-financing options.

Disgruntled - Best of luck to you. Hey maybe you'll be a BIG WINNER in this Miami trip giveaway...that way you can pawn it off on eBay and put the $$ to the Scion and TFS!!

Dzuniek - how much did you put down? With # like that, why not just pay it all the way off, unless you bought it used

Nothing its been paid off for like 8 months. Put a 6500 down and paid the rest off (180 a month) in like 1 year. Feels good to have no car payment and I paid my insurance off for 1 year.

It's truly not that bad lol. It is only $27K if I just pay the minimum, just like a credit card. The trick is to pay more then the minimum. I can afford it and I feel comfortable knowing that this car is going to be basically maintenance free for 55k, except new tires once every 12-18 months.

I am just wondering why some of you put $0 down and pay for this car in such a long period of time?

Doesn't it get bother you to think how long you will be paying this car? Like 72 months and such....

I am planning to put down 13k for the car, which cost 21k OTD. 36 month financing. I might pay it off earlier though.

bout $350/mo for 5 yrs, w/ extended warranty, 6.35APR(woulda been 6.5 for myself but got a co-sign) and put 500 down for a spanking new 07 Spec tC w/floor mats and iPod compatable cd player(car was a dealer trade cuz I wanted a BSP and was told it had these options and gave them the go ahead). This is my first ever car purchase and was surprised at the finance I got.

I agree with UNLTD

You end up paying so much more just because of interest.

Let's say, hypothetically speaking, you take out a 20k loan for 5 years at 6.25% (6.25 because that's the rate I got).

According to the online loan calculator I used, that's a 388.99 monthly payment.

Multiplied by 60 months, you get a total of 23,339.40.

Do the subtraction, and you're paying an extra 3,339.40 in just interest.

of course, but not everyone has the available cash for a large down payment. the more of the total lump sum you can afford not to finance, the more money you're going to save in the long run.
