Default How Vicious are CA Emissions Reqs?

I have a tC 06, with my fancy little Colorado Emissions Exempt sticker on it. Well i'm working in California and I know they have less tolerant rules on emissions. But today made me really question how harsh are they? I saw a no less then 1 month old tC 07 with a emissions tag on it already. Unless I am mistaken on the purpose of the red on white flags with a # printed on them hanging in a vehicles back window. It's a new car and it still has to be inspected? :?

I'm just guessing but the only red number square/diamond thing I've always see in the back windshield is temporary registration in lieu of the Year sticker on the plates. The number stands for the month.

yea^^ CA is different than CO. We dont have emissions tags. Getting your registration tags means that your car has passed a smog test. Its kind of an all in one deal.

All out-of-state vehicles have to pass inspection to be registered, but since the tC is new and 50-state emissions compliant, you shouldn't have a problem passing. However, I would suggest replacing your CAI with a stock air box for inspection just to be on the safe side, there's no telling what extra fees you can get hit with if you fail the visual inspection.

Yeah--that was a temporary registration tag. I have a 2005 and have not had to have any smog inspection yet. We use to have to have one every two years, but now the new cars get a longer grace period. You say you are working here which sounds like you still have Colorado plates. That means you should not have a problem. 2fast4you is correct, any CAI on a tC is not legal at this time.
