Default Hyundai Tiburon V6 or Scion tC??

whats better a Hyundai Tiburon V6 GT or a Scion tC, both are pretty much similar in power, however the tC is already capable of forced induction, not to say i will do so, but its a thought to put into conseideration, however the Gt has a V6 which often times last longer that a four banger, because they are revved lower to get similar power... might not be a big diff between these 2! im not really lokking toward a manual seeing as i live in LA and the tibby really shows off with the shifttronic, which i find good, the two come out ant a similar price due to options... and the gas mialege i see being higher in the tC, but not so much where i dont mind paying that to have the fun of a shiftronic. i like both the styling, however i like the look of the tibb due to the more muscular look, i just wanted your guys opinion since you guys have exp with the car!

Good luck on making a choice...its a hard one.

People and owners seem to have a lot of good things to say about the car...good styling, nice interior, smooth ride. Its very comparable to the tC because its heavy, no 6-speed tranny, and the engine could use more pep. I think it all comes down to opinion and which one you would like the most in the long run.

I wouldnt choose the Tibby just because I dont exactly like the exterior. I really like my tC because its and inexpensive car, its reliable, and it looks like its worth more than it is. A lot of people are supprised to hear that it starts just above $16K.

I like the tibby but only in black, maybe dark blue. If only it wasn't made by Hyndai...shame.

It's not a bad car. I like the tC more, obviously, but it really is a close call. For LA cruising I think I would go for the tC's 4 cylinders. I like the sunroof on the tC better than the one on the Tib but if sunroof doesn't matter to you then eh.

Go with whichever you think test drives better.

I was looking at a used tibby... until I saw that insurance would have been $1000 more a month. Tibby was quickly marked off the list.

I ended up going with the tC b/c of resale, insurance was decent, styling, and functionality. I had 4 people, 3 double bowling ball bags (think duffle bag with 35lbs in each), 1 set of power tools, 1 medium sized piece of luggage, and 1 set of hand tools all made it in the car without much of a problem. The car road like a champ for the 2.5 hour drive too. I'm happy with my choice.

Odd, I have both cars....
My girlfriend has an 03 Tiburon Supercharged, at roughly 250whp. I love it for the most part, but the tC does a lot better on gas.

Hopefully I can get a Turbonetics kit, and be right up there in HP with my girlfriend.

I raced a tibby v6 and beat it. But my friend is not the best of drivers.
Another thing, why is hyundai so bad? I know its not better ranked then toyota or honda, but its ranked 4th right?
Just saying, its not a car company that just joined, hyundais been around for awhile.
People should be more informed when they spit out random stuff.

I think Tiburons are more of a chick car. When I see them on the streets I just picture beads in the mirror or something. I dont know. Scions are pimp!

ok i almost bought a tiburon before i got my tc. it all came down to the tc being less expensive. and i felt that the pick up in the tc was a little better... maybe because the tiburon was heavier but it just didnt seem like it had the same umphhh! also the visability in the tiburon sucked. the blind spots were terrible. i like both cars but with the tiburon priced at like $22k and the tc priced at only $16k, i went with the tc. plus toyota is a much better manufacturer than hyundai. and i am very happy with the choice i made. i mean can there possibly be a better community out there than the scion community??? get what you like more... they are both good cars.

hmm a tiburon s/c is freakin quick i had a friend with a s/c tibby with headres and cai that thing was taken out g35s and zs i have nothing against the tibby but do not get the a/t the tranny wiill fall apart on you get the 6 speed. plus with the tiptronic you lose soo much more at the wheels. the only reason im saying go with the tC is because you want an a/t. if not get the tibby.

i really do like the tibby myself, i was looking at them before I was turned on to the tC, for me the deciding factor was ultimately the price.
really like the tC styling too, maybe not as much, but geebus, 16-17 grand? We got a winner there

It's intake and exhaust is also VERY very restrictive, some people are getting 20+ hp from switching those two alone.

I had 4 people, 4 snowboards, 4 duffle bags of gear and a few misc things..... all inside of the car (I dont like racks). Not too bad and the 2.5 hr drive to the mountain was a blast. (the tC can hold an insane amount of people/gear for how 'small' it looks)

No real opinion on the diff between the tib and tC. I remember hearing a lot when I had my tC that the v6 tibs were a bit slow for being a 6 cyl. However apparently a few mods and it performs much better. I personally like the styling of both

My fiance has an 03 Tib V6 6spd. Very comparible with the TC as far as acceleration goes. I think the Tib handles better(lower center of gravity) and it is a hare quicker. Room inside is comparable as well but the back seat room goes to the tC. Doesnt matter to me though because we dont take anyone along for rides besides each other.

The Tib will respond to mods better than the tC. Also it has a very good aftermarket thats been available for years for it. Unlike the tC which has only had an aftermarket available for a few years(the quality for the most part is great though).

Basically its a pretty even choice. Test drive them both, you should enjoy them pretty much equally.

I voted Tiburon.
I love my tC, but I would not buy one again knowing what I do now.
The Tiburons when they first came out were bad, and alot of people didn't know Hyundai's quality (which was low at the time) But I have a friend who has the latest model Tiburon, and I've spent enough time in it to know the panels don't rattle, the paint doesn't easily chip, and the inside doesn't have a cheap feel (neither does the tC, but considering its a Hyundai)... Plus, the SE V6 model you get a 6 speed and a crapload of features for $21,595.

got his tib before i got m tC. I was still look around for my ride when he got his tib and the body style of the tib are...i dont know ugly imo. So i went with the tC. Its totally the persons opinion cause i know alot of people that dont really like the tC either. I wasnt really looking for anything to quick so horse power wasnt a factore. If it was a would have thrown down alot more cheese and got a wrx.

i still really want one!
