I disagree. The factory components sound really good-its the deck that sucks. I'm using a digital panasonic deck to drive the factory mids/tweets(front only) and it sounds as good or better than anything I've ever used. (MB quart components, alpine s-type, Pioneer Rev components, Boston Acoustics...)

Well if you plan on having anyone in your car...I would not go with the Tibby. Have you ever been in the backseat of one of those? I like the look of both cars, but I just can't see the point of spending 17K on a car that can just transport you and another passenger. Plus the cargo area isn't all that big either. Both of my cousins have Tibby's and they always want to drive my tC

actually i did post this exact thread on the tibby forum... not to many replies seeing as not to many ppl have em and theres like 3 main hyundai forums, my sister has an elantra, and for the 4 yrs weve had it, weve had no problems at all... the tibb actaually does beat the tc and like said before intake alone makes 26.7 hp diff compared to what like 7-8hp for the tc. hyundais have actually come to compete with toyotas and hondas... i saw someone said it was 4th palce for the company.. i find it true, plus i keep hearing ppl talk about tC rattling and making weird noises in the engine bay, the tibbs dont have any of the same prob. and the sound of the engine is so much better! i have yet to test drive the tc, im waiting for the the carmax around my house to get in a tibb, this way i can be across the street from a toyota dealersihp.

For over $20k why not try the other H emblem complany... Why not try a RSX Type S or and Civic Si ??? Even tho I HATEEEE those ricey civics I hate Hyundai even more... our family had a couple of hyundai cars through out the years and we find ourselves regretting the purchase everytime... We ended up selling those crap quality cars and have found ourselve coming back to reliable Toyota and Honda everytime... The tibby does have pretty nice styling but in my book they just aren;t ready to compare with the japanese companies when it comes to quality cars...

oh yea get the Tc, u'll be pretty happy with the purchase instead of sitting in ur tibby asking urself did i buy the right car???

I mean i don;t think the tibby people have car clubs or forums as exciting as ScionLife

So just get a Tc and join a club so u can go hang out with all the other cool scion people... lol

You got a dyno to back that up? 26.7 Sounds way inflated.

That was on an Automatic, the manuals respond better to mods. Headers are another big gain for the Tib. With just an intake added to a tiburon, they still have more HP then my tC with I/H/E.

From the link:
Old peak HP- 143.8 @ 5400 RPM
Peak HP w/ CAI- 151.1 @ 5500 RPM

Old peak torque - 170.9 @ 3600 RPM
Peak torque w/ CAI- 175.1 @ 4400 RPM
Just curious, but with the CAI and Exhaust:
151.1 - 143.8 = 7.3 hp increase
175.1 - 170.9 = 4.2 torque increase
Last time I checked my math, 7.3 =/= 26.7

Bah, I just wanted to prove the Tib beats the tC Mod-to-Mod wise.
I/H/E on my tib I managed 187whp.

I have both cars, Tiburon V6 and a tC.
not unless you get the $1500 premium package (which includes a sunroof, too). the Tib's not a bad car, its remarkably similar to ours. Hyundai took a motor that they were using for a whiile and dropped it into a 2-door coupe (not sure if the platform came from another car or not).

the only thing holding the tib back is the price and competition, really... the tC is a screaming deal right now due to its price and its features. it really stays out of the Si/MCS/RSX-S/GTI battles b/c its not positioned there, but rather 3-4g less. I might be in the minority here, but if I had to spend 20k on a car (before TTL fees), I probably wouldn't have gotten a tC. I would've gone for a car build from the ground up for sportiness, something like the new Si, the Mini S, or even the new GTI. Any of those would/should be able to outperform a (stock) tib, and come in around the same amount. when the new tib comes out (is it?), it'll be back in the midst of the pack.

^^
If i had 20k to spend i would have gotten myself a new RSX-S
That car is almost flawless for the price you pay, kinda like the tC.

^^^your tc with the sc will run to 20 if not more, so i guess you did have the money?

also for those talking about restrictions in the intkae and exhaust in the tibby, and bolt ons add 20+, but then talk about warranty being better, thats a double negative. from what ive heard their warranties are very sensitive. you have to keep all your maintenence records and keep them up to date, plus any bolt on will be frowned upon, where scion encourages customization.

find a new type-S for 20....i'll buy it tomorrow. they're at about 25 new.

we just bought an 04 with just under 20k miles on it for just under 20 (all inclusive) and that was a steal. the 06 type S is at the A3/NewGTI price point.

BAH i wasn't being serious. But if i had 20k to spend i would have bought a different car, something along the lines of a RSX-S. A brand new type S is $23,845, which is close enough to 20k for this arguement.

I am still waiting a few more months but when doing comparisions it actually came down to resale value for me. higher resale value for a TC.

Before the tibby came out my buddy owns a foreign auto shop and the tibby stock was 180bhp. But there was a program for the ECU to bump it upto 260bhp. Pretty crazy and not sure if that program is out for sale. It made such a big difference and this is with a stock ride!

I jsut think it is ugly as h3ll and rather live with the good looks of the TC. But tibby has its surprises.

Love it. lol Yelling everything but "Hyndai" as if saying "Hyundai" at anything louder than a whisper will bring down the wrath of Leprechauns of the O'Gillis Clan drunk off of green beer at 9 am and wielding Louisville Sluggers.

First of all, dumb question, this is a scion site so we probably will be biased. Second of all you are looking at fine Japanese engineering vs. Koreans just trying to keep up. having test driven the tiburon, I would have to say that the tC is much better overall. The whole fit and finish is so much better and you can't beat the "yota" engines man!!
