Hey Could you guys help me out, I want to get a tC but I cant decide on which year to get, '06 or '07. What's the difference? I'll be buying it from the dealer also, Im thinking of also going with a black color and manual drive. This will be my first car, I just barely got my license so the tC will be my first car ever. My dad was going to give me an '87 camaro IROK but I told him that having that car is just way to much responsibility to have, its an awsome car aswell but I want a car fit for a first time driver. help?

^^ the only 06's left should be used models. There are numerous threads pertaining to the differences between 06 and 07... the most significant being different MAF sensor size.
A car recommened for a 1st time driver wuold not be a tC but thats entirely up to you. You know yourself best.

I agree TC is not for the 1st time driver. However I would go for the 07 of course.

ok so the 07 is better right? ok and why wouldnt the tC be a good choice for a first timer? i thought it good because usually 06 or 07 cars have way higher price ranges and I was going to go with an xB but I like the coupe look better. Is there something I dont know about the tC that I should know? like maybe bad handling or too fast or what? cause I dont see anything wrong with the tC being a good choice for a first timer. help?

Handling is great, price is great but it is a little strong on the acceleration (if that is what you want go for it) my dad wanted me to buy a cheaper car and i had my heart set on the TC for a yr. If you really want one get it.

Why is the TC not recommended for the 1st time driver?

Are you saying this in general becuase the car is brand new, or because its a TC?

yeah I see your point, umm but between a 87 camaro or a 07 tC, I think the safer choice would obviously be a tC because newer cars have better safety features and the camaro IROK has a corvette style engine so again, i think the tC would be a better choice for a 1st timer inspite of its acceleration. so what did your dad end up getting you ScionTC07MA?

this is general........ there does seem to be a trend where teen owners drive the car hard and dont have enough experience and wreck it. But once again, it's up to the buyer b/c he knows himself best.
My 1st car was a 91 Plymouth/Colt Vista....... had like 90HP or something like that.

My dad didnt get me anything I bought my Silver 07 TC with my own money from the deployment to Iraq. After he saw the car and looked at it and rode with me he loves it, my uncle was like it looks like a chick car (all of the chicks that have seen it love it). Right now all i have in it is the LED lights and i have the reciept for the lowering springs, so it is just me being lazy with the springs. Papispico I said that because it is a new car.

^^^ thats good! I mean, if a driver is responsible, most road going cars will be fine.
It tends to be that ppl that feel that the tC is fast..... then they get into trouble.

LOL... Nice. Just an FYI in case anyone doesn't know - the insurance company said I could get a few more % discount on my comprehensive insurance if I brought in proof of the engine immobilizer thing.. Not sure what the % off is for that, but it's 25% for having the LoJack, max is 36%. I also tried out the "Early Warning" part of the LoJack they installed for the first time, and it actually worked. Emailed me, sent me a text message, and called my cell phone when I left the transponder at work and drove the car. (on purpose) only downside is it took about 45 minutes, by that time the car could be at a chop shop.. Anyway I went down to the dealer today and had them print a copy of the invoice that showed I had the immobilizer, (didn't have the window sticker) hopefully the ins. person wasn't talking out thier a$$ and it'll be a few $ off. Still loving the car even though the seats are killing my back. 1 month and counting..

Just got the new TC. I mentioned it somewhere else, but thought I'd post here too. It's an '05 and I got a pretty good deal on it

Ground Effects, Trunk spoiler, fog lights, 20% black tint, 18" (black???) wheels, TRD exhaust, Pioneer 6 disk stereo, side curtain airbags, floor mats, and the ever useful first aid kit. w00t! w00t!

I live in CO and we are having a monster blizzard - probably be snowing through until xmas. Here's a quick snap in my garage (chopped because it's dirty and ugly)

I accidentally closed photoshop w/o saving it, and I hate what I did with the garage door... but please ignore that. I will have pics as soon as the sun is out :D

Couple things I am looking forward to changing are: Lowering it! (Looking into just doing the TRD springs, but researching to see if this works without the shocks). Adding the injen cai, throwing in the trd ss, fixing the broken lens on my right fog light (came like that). and then replacing the grill without the scion logo.

These wheels came off the special edition scion (RS1.0) in a red color, so I'm not sure if they are supposed to be darker than the regular 18" wheels. Either way, they look badass.

Happy holidays!
