Default I hate these non-folding side mirrors!!

About 10 minutes ago I was parked on the street right out front of my house, and in any other car i would have folded in my mirror but noooo, the tc doesnt have folding mirrors so i just had to deal with it. And I rarely ever park in the street but my driveway was full so I was forced to. And the one day I do park in the street my mirror gets hit. I could hear it from in the house so I ran outside and of coarse there is no sign of the driver or my mirror. I found my mirror about 100 feet up the road. Anyway I have a feeling this has happened to many of you and I know im not the only one who hates these mirrors, but today was just a bad day. Oh and does anyone know how much this is going to cost to fix?

Its not the mirrors fault. Nearly every car I have ever owned has had fixed mirrors, and I have never lost a mirror... ever. People normally dont drive within 8 inches of your car. If someone hit your mirror, they were extremely close to your car or they did it on purpose by hitting it with something else.

It sucks that it happened, but blaming it on these very common types of mirror is a bit much

well if the mirrors did fold it could be prevented, there is too many streets near my house where there is only room for one car to pass by and its a 2-way

That sucks that someone hit your mirror, just be glad that they didn’t sideswipe the entire car. They would have still driven off because these people are just the P.O.S. that they are.

If it was parked on a narrow residential street, then I’m assuming the other driver was going about 20-25mph. If your mirror was laying 100 ft. down the street, then they probably hit it pretty much squared-up to launch it that far. Even if the mirror was folded in, they probably would have still hit it. Being that the front of mirrors are contoured, and if it was folded in, then any impact would cause it to break inwards. This would then bust out your window as well.

i'm with eng on this one. it's not the mirros fault and how many 17k cars have folding mirrors?? it's a case of a careless driver or someone doesn't like you at all. i'm guessing a careless driver, b/c most people would have busted out the window.

sucks it happened, but it's not on the mirror.

i almost put this guy --> <-- on here when i first posted, b/c i thought you were trying to park or something and hit your mirror on something, but then it's not funny anymore. except the fact that you're blaming it on the non-folding mirror, that's kind of funny.

Yeah I live in an area that is sarounded by miles and miles of narrow streets. (South / North / West / East burbs chicago) And some jerks with drive ways still feel they need to park on the street. So all you can fit is 2 small cars inches away from each other on the streets and I got my side mirror knocked a few weeks ago. I chased them until I was stopped by a red light

I don't think there is a correlation. The signal just needs a wire, and there is no reason why a wire can't go through a hinged arm.

Of all the cars my family has owned, I think the only ones with folding mirrors were the '94 Civics my sister and I both had. The Lexus, Acura, Mazda and various Toyotas all had fixed mirrors, and in my entire life, we never broke a single one...

Yes exactly! They fold the other way ("wrong" way) too!

One time my dad was a little too close to the side of the garage when backing out and hit the mirror! We were all like

But all that happened was that it folded back! Just had to use a little strength, and bingo, good as new, and it still folded as normal. Oh minivans, with many features to correct for user error

My POS 94 honda civic had folding mirrors, not sure how much it cost new but if anyone would have paid 17k for it they would have been, well, stupid.

i didn't say NO 17k cars had them I said how many??

point being at 17k you're not going to get all the goos and gahs that you want. the 16k versa doesn't have the power nor does the xA of the tC. granted if you bought the cars for gas saving purposes cool it fits for you. i'm the tC has other advantages over the xA, and the xA has other advantages over the tC. now if it was a 35k car then heck yeah i should be getting a nice amount or commodities. personally i'm satisfied with my purchase at 18k, do i have everything i'd like?? heck no, but it's still a deal in my eyes.

I've lost one on a fence post a few months back. SUCKED. Got a replacement from McGeorgeparts for about $150 shipped. Of course, folding mirrors wouldn't have done jack for me at that point since I just wasn't paying enough attention and had enough room to get through.

Folding mirrors would be nice and all but I don't see a real need.
