I hate the Non folding mirrors as well. I've replaced 3 of them so far.

1st came off driving to Georgia.
2nd. Parked in Brooklyn
3rd. knocked off most likely by a garbage truck, that also left a long ___ white line above my rear fender.

I would purchase some folding mirrors in a heartbeat!

 

funny...I never even knew folding mirrors existed for a good while after I had my scion. Thought it was a fairly new thing...

 

Well, if you look at the stock mirrors and imagined them folding.. they would still stick out nearly as far since they are very thick. Unless they made them flatter (like the cars that do have folding mirror do) it would be of more benefit... but I dont think they would look as good.

 

u know what, i think Japanese-made cars should have folding mirrors. like for example the 04-05 civics, the ones that are made here in US are non-folding. the ones that are hybrid however are folding.
however this does not apply for our tCs.. i think the primary reason for folding mirrors is in other parts of the world the roads aren't as wide as here in the states so folding mirrors are required. here in US, roads are wide (at least so far i have went thru) so folding mirrors are considered useless.. just my 2 cents...

 

My 91 Dodge Stealth has folding mirrors for god sakes.
