Default I have a question for my fellow tC'ers

When you start your engine, is the "maintenance needed" light supposed to blink a few times??? If so, how many times is it supposed to blink?? Everytime I turn on my car, (this has just been the past few days), the light will blink about 5 times after starting the car. After that, I dont see it untill I turn the car on again. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think it when it blinks that many times it means you are getting close to having an oil change or adleast time to reset your oil change light. Otherwise it should only blink twice I beleive. Don't quote me on any of this but this is what I have experienced.

Agreed, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Pretty sure you can turn that light off too is you don't need to be reminded of getting an oil change.

ok when mine did that it means u need an oil change soon.. when it stays on solid it means u def. need an oil change. it might be sooner than the milage the paper says but its ur engine telling u that u need one.

the maint. light is nothing more than a mileage counter to remind you to change oil.

after resetting.. depending on how many miles you set it at (normally dealers just do 5K)..
when you approach the trip point at 500 miles... the maint. light will blink.. after you reach the mileage point.. it'll stay on..

so your example... you have driven 4500 miles after your last reset, is when the light starts blinking..

after you reach 5000 miles.. it'll stay on.

and for the love of God... do not pay any money to have that light reset... i've heard shops jip people $50 or something to reset a light that will take you only 5 seconds at most.

It is on page 96 of the Manual. It goes on every 4500miles.
I just turned mine's off this week.

(Turn the ingition key to the ON position while holding down the Odometer trip meter reset ****.)
Hold down the **** for at least 5 seconds . It should indicates "000000" and the light goes off.
