Default Serpentine Belt with 120,000 miles, but OK?

Hi everyone, I've wandered around the forums for awhile and finally signed up today. I have a quick question for my fellow xD owners.

My 2008 RS 1.0 still has the original serpentine belt on it after 120,000 miles. I've been completely strict about maintenance every 5,000 miles. I made sure to have them inspect it again at last maintenance and they said it looks good. It's the dealer I purchased the car from, and have always gone there for maintenance since day one - they've always treated me well and I don't doubt their assessment.

I'm comfortable doing minor repairs/replacements (head/tail lights, filters, wipers, A/C **** pulley cable - adjustment after it hopped off) but not so much under the hood - so pardon my noobiness.

Anyways... my question is: if the belt looks just fine, should I be worried about replacing it anytime soon, or that it might break randomly even if I'm keeping an eye on it every 5k? I know it's a cheap replacement compared to what could happen - just looking for opinions. Thank you in advance.

Maybe a better question: what's the longest life you've gotten out of your serpentine belt without needing to replace it? … or do you change at certain intervals, no matter what? I understand the timing chain is a different thing altogether - just wondering about serp belt on the xD or similar engine.

I'd replace it now just for peace of mind. You dont want that to fail while cruising down the freeway.

It's rubber so temperature greatly effects it's life. In SC we get four seasons in three days sometimes, so I usually have always changed my belts and hoses every 50-75k miles. Peace of mind. Driving is better than walking.

120K? Change it or at least carry a spare with tools.

And while you're at it, add a NonStopTuning crank pulley!
