I am trying to figure out If I should always use premium unleaded or is the cheap stuff ok.

manual says 87 octane minimum, so you could use higher octane premium unleaded, but it won't make that much difference... 87 works just fine, and it'll save you some cash in the long run.

regular unleaded is just fine for the TC. You will really not accomplish anything by putting the premium in, except of course emptying your wallet.

 

I read somewhere that if you use a higher grade gas than the manual says, then it could damage the engine over time because it doesn't burn or combust or something completely and leaves carbon deposites in the engine.

Just use regular 87 octane, but use a good brand like Chevron.

 

see i read somewhere that on 4 cylinders (which is what we drive) that you should use premium about every 4th to 6th fillup, it said something like "blah blah blah cleans the engine out blah blah" not sure if thats true, but im sure it would not hurt. am i correct.

 

87 octane, unless you have a supercharger. higher octane won't give you anything extra
