ok, well I was worried about nothing....

I called the dealer today at 9:30 AM EST to ask for the VIN. I was given it and a pretty lame excuse about not calling me back... I was also told that the car will be in tomorrow morning and pick up will be ready for friday.

Well I fell like an idiot now lol,

Thank you all for your replies.... COME FRIDAY I WILL BE AN OFFICIAL MEMBER!!!!

I think you did the right thing, and should not feel bad about anything. This is a major purchase, and will acount for a large portion of your time, and money. You have every right in the world to demand information. Plus, the dealers do and say things that they should feel guilty about, and try and keep the ball in their court at all times. Bravo for taking the bull by the horns! Consumers first.

Just an FYI, I didn't order my tC. I just figured I'd keep checking dealerships around the valley till one came in that I wanted. I wasn't in a huge rush. So I happened to be next to a dealership one morning and I took a friend down to test drive it so that I could get his opinion. Long story short, I bought a tC that had just arrived that morning (literally still dirty from the truck) that had a few upgrades on it. I didn't have my wife though, so I had to go back later that day to wrap it up.

When I got in later they told me oops it looks like that car had been ordered and there was a deposit on it. That explained the few upgrades, which actually happened to be upgrades that I had wanted anyway. Oh well they said, we're already done with your deal and have already cashed your $1,000 down payment so that's that. I felt kind of bad driving it home. Well, not too bad...

Point is, I bet that happens all the time and maybe that's why they don't give out VINs sometimes. They want to sell them the second they hit the lot regardless of order because what if you decide you don't want it? It'd be harder to sell a customized ordered tC then a stock one. Who knows, just figured I'd share the story.

I called him Friday afternoon and left a voice mail asking about a VIN and no response and today again I left another voice mail asking about it at about 1:30 PM EST. and again no response. seerms like a shotty way to do business but we will see.

One more thing. when I went to trade in my car they had a 06 FM tC with more options then I wanted that they claimed to be a demo that they had just got in that day. I offered to purchase that one and they told me that I couldnt buy a demo because they must retain it for 4 months before they can sell it. I would have understood if they didnt have another demo but they did. They had a SW auto there as a demo and I know because thats the car I test drove.....Just seemed odd they they wouldnt want to make more money?

oh well...

Ill update tomorrow night

Thanks again

You know dude, I got the same exact story from another dealership I worked with. They had a demo, and a new car with all the options, but more than what I ordered.

As it turned out, the actual car I ordered was parked around back. They just wanted to sell me a car with more options.

I suggest going with an Internet Sales Rep, like Mark T. Highleyman at Power Toyota Irvine (/shameless plug).

They sell in volume, not by car, and they're a lot more honest in general than your standard salesperson.
