Default I want to replace my door/mid panel speakers...need help.

I went to www.crutchfield.com and did a "what fits my car" and it says for the tC that only pioneers (blah) fit the front and it said kickers for the back, which is cool. I was wondering what the actual depth of the speaker wells were so I could go look up speakers on my own. I am wondering if other speakers actually fit besides what crutchfield has to offer. Obviously they are only going to show you what fits within their selection of speakers. If anyone has upgrades yet what speakers did you get - sizes and model numbers? Did you install them yourself, if so, what is the best way to get the door panel off. I do not have a clue where to start with the midpanel.

If you want you can email me. Thanks.

Just curious, is the 400+ dollar bazooka sub (factory) powered by chance? I would think so for being 400+ dollars, for one sub, one BAZOOKA sub at that.

I did a search and found nothing.

i replaced mine with a 6.5" componenet speakers... the only problem i had was mounting my mid-range speaker on the door mounting due to the fact that my component has a very big magnet so i just used some improvised spacers... what kind of speakers do u have in mind? any 6.5" speaker would fit in front... the only issue u might have is the mounting depth... well, at least for me since my speaker has a big magnet... hehehe... mine was a DLS R6A which i bought from infinitecaraudio.com...

almost any 6.5" will fit with a spacer.....stock, you have like 3.3" of mounting depth........you can fit 6.5" all the way around.....

Obviously the mounting depth is what I am worried about. I can’t find any info on the tC's depth in the doors or the mid panel. I am big on good sound, not necessarily subwoofers, but all round good sound. I am looking for Kickers, infinity or alpine.. Most of those speakers are pretty big in depth. I have never installed door speakers. I have done my 6x9's and dash speaker in my Buick. I had alpine SRS in the back and infinity kappa’s in the front with a JVC EL Kameleon. It was a good setup. This scion has nothing on my Buick’s audio. I would rather not pay circuit city 90 bucks just for installation and then some for parts.

also, you can get WAY better products than kicker, infinity, or alpine for the same price range........look into Resonant Engineering, DLS, elemental Design, CDT....and i hope you've never gone to circut city or best buy for any installing.....shady as shady gets....

I was lookin gat my mid panel in the back...does that speaker grill just pop out of there? If it does, can you access the screws and mounts from there? I don't want to go forcing out that grill if it is connected.

400.00 for a bazooka tube is outrageous I sell them and they most expensive one is 200.00 and some change and thats a self powered tube. Most of the bazooka tubes are under 100

Cheers!

Just for the record, the Bazooka sub available in the tC is NOT a Bazooka tube, it's a 10-inch powered sub with a custom enclosure, all of which is built by Bazooka. Just wanted to clear that up.

Still overpriced though....

My dealer told me it was the tube but your right no matter what still over priced. Bazooka doesn't make anything worth 400.00

Does anyon eknow how to take apart the door panels on the tC? Someone had posted a thread on how to strip the cars insides, but I cannot find it in the search again. I had found it before on accidnet. I just want a walk throuh on how to remove the door panels for speaker installation. Also, does the fram around the headunit just pop off? I would like to replace the head unit as well. But i dunno if i should just prye the frame off? are there hidden screws? anyone?

dude thats what i thought but i think the mounting depth is not that deep not unless you use a spacer... i had problems when i installed my DLS cuz i thought i dont need to use a spacer, but i was wrong... i still needed to use one... btw, i think the DLS R6A is among the few that requires a deep mounting hole...
mbq's, alpines, infinitys, JLs, REs, etc. usually requires only a 2.5 deep mounting for a 6.5" mids.
