yeah isnt there a # you can call on the bottom of the paper if you want them to hold it for you to pick up.

my ups and fedex guy normally sign it themselves and leave the package for me since i asked them to.

Haha. I live in an apartment so they leave it in the office if I'm not home. It's awesome. That would be frustrating.

I always leave notes on the door saying leave the package on the step. Print and sign my name.

Call and have them hold it for you. You can go pick it up tonight after the driver gets back in, or tomorrow.
There are several reasons why they wont leave it at a front door. If you live in an apartment they will never leave it at your door, or with a neighbor. If you live in a neighboor hood that has gotten packages stolen from the front door in the past they wont leave it either.

Beleive me, they don't want to take the package back to try to redeliver it the next day. If thet didn't leave it it was for a good reason.

It varies. Actually with all of the guages and HVACs I send and recieve, feel lucky you didnt use fedex.. thier drivers just do whatever they feel like, including skipping routes. I have had to pick up a couple from the Fedex place cause "no one was home" when they delivered. Funny, since they can only deliver to the main office here since our buildings are locked.. the office holds packages in a shipping room for us.. and someone is ALWAYS there during the day.

It also depends on how the shipper marked it. If they chose "direct signature" that means that the front office, secretary, mom, etc cannot sign to accept it.
