I am planning to get a SRI /CAI (not sure which one yet), however I was wondering what issue(s) could arise that the warranty on the engine could be voided?

In short, I am trying to justify a TRD CAI intake - "is it worth the money" - type of deal...

 

trd CAI will not void the warranty but yes i perfer u get CAI its better. but my opinion is id get fujita intake skrew trd

 

if you install the intake properly and reset the ecu, the only problem you'd have to worry about is the cai taking in water. with that said, i've had my injen cai installed for a couple years now, and i saw no evidence that any water made it through the filter when i took it off to clean it. in other words, there were no deposits or streaks inside the piping. i'd say as long as you avoid any significant puddles, you'll be fine with a cai.

the only significant improvement a cai makes is in the sound. you'll get a nice growl during acceleration. i'm actually thinking about putting my stock airbox back on because it's a bit annoying to me sometimes. don't get me wrong, most of the time i enjoy the sound, but sometimes i just want to accelerate without putting on a show. i hope this helped.

 

Don't waste your money on the TRD CAI. Definitely go CAI, but IMO, Injen is the best on the market, and I believe that has the highest gains out of all the tC CAI's.

 

Definately the Injen CAI, I've had mine on for over a year with no problems, and it sits high enough that there is not going to take on any water unless you drive into a lake. I'm pretty sure none of the CAI's have this problem.

 

but then again if u wanna go JDM all the way fujita is ur second option and yes the sound on the fujita is beast

Injen has the highest max hp on the dyno, but i dont remember how smooth and linear it was in low rpm, anyway i do like injen lol, but i have weapon-r for some reason.

 

I am happy with my TRD CAI. I noticed the acceleration was a little quicker and throttle response was better. Maybe its just me but I noticed a difference.

 

well the most important thing is fuction for you then, plus im assuming the TRD CAI has PERFECT fitment, with no rattling. fitment actually does relate to performance in a way, my weapon-r intake just fits a lil crooked plus it doesnt connect to the throttle body flush, which could mean turbulance.

 

I had a short ram on my mustang and really had no issues. However it did have a heat shield.

Injen cause its better performance, and trd cause of the warranty. If it wasn't for the warranty thing I would go injen all the way...

What I plan on doing is thus:

Find a well made intake on Ebay, if you don't know what i'm talking about, feel free to ask. Pick that up for a lot less than you would an Injen, TRD, fugita or any other name brand CAI and then pick up a filter from one of the above companies. I prefer K&N but that is just a personal preference.

This way, you save money and get what you want.

 

i got my short ram on ebay, all intakes are the same so its completely pointless to spend the 200+ of the brands you are looking at. I got better throttle response with better accelration too, but i only spent 50 bucks.

As for the warranty, nothing voids it unless the part you installed caused a problem, then you arent covered. Do some research its been discussed so many times i couldnt guess a number
