Default Just got my tC back for the hatch rattle......victory?

Hey, just got it back from Longo Toyota/Scion for two rattles that were coming from the hatch. First the review of the dealership:

After worrying about whether it'll just end up worse from all the other stories on this board, I bit the bullet and took it in because Scion customer service still hadn't returned my call after a week. Came on a friday and had a technician drive it with me in the back. Then we switched off. See, all this time I thought it was coming from just the rear passenger c-pillar. In the way, I was right. The on-and-off subtle *tik tik*sound coming from the up-down motions WERE coming from the area where the c-pillar meets the horizontal plane of the car, around the rear corner of the quarter window. BUT, the bigger and more constant rattle that really pushed me to take it to the dealer was coming from the upper front glass part of the hatch, closest to the driver. I know this because I pushed up on the glass while we were driving and it stopped completely. Well, they were busy then, so I came back and dropped it off Monday morning around 7:00am. They gave me a loaner Corolla which I drove to class with. They called me the moment I walked out of class, so that was sweet.

Let me tell you real quick, that Corolla with 10K on it made me appreciate my tC just a little bit more. If the tC is a rattle trap, that Corolla was a squeak box. Way worse than my tC, but it WAS an Enterprise car with 10K, so who knows if it's really the design. Back to the story.

So the guys at Longo are GREAT. I mean, every single technician and adminstrator and cashier or whoever was competent and courteous beyond way anything I've seen at any other dealership. When I went to pick up my car, the guy told me that the technician who looked at my car was out today and someone else came in and fixed 3 rattles instead of just two. Was a little sceptical, but hey, let's see. Now everything at the dealership went FAST. They had a ton of people, but get you through quick, and the short wait in the really nice waiting areas with the resteraunts and video games (!) made it pretty easy to bear. So the tC finally gets there. I'm checking it out to make sure the rims aren't scratched or anything, and notice they washed the car. Nice. Except they pretty much ignored the rims. Too bad. Missed a chance to solidify a little bias for them.

SO COME ON, DID THEY FIX THE RATTLES???

The answer, my impatient friend, is a definite..........nes. The c-pillar rattle is clearly still there. BUT, the glass rattle is gone, or atleast subdued so much that I can't hear it. And I guess there WAS a third rattle, because with the radio even partially up I couldn't hear any rattles back there at all. Interestingly, they didn't do the bumper stop fix, so maybe it really was just loose paneling like the guy said and I don't have the same hatch rattle as some of you guys do. So yeah, in terms of everything else, Longo Toyota/Scion is just awesome. I hate dealerships. My dad hates dealerships. But when I went to get a Scion, he said to just go to Longo and never go anywhere else for anything else. For now it sounds good to me.

So the rattle is half fixed. But as we all know, it seems to have a tendency to come back. So until that happens, I totally recommend you guys to take your cars to Longo, not only to let them have a crack at the rattle, but because they just take care of you so well there. Big ups to Longo. All in the all, I give them a 2.0 out of 10. Why so low? Because dealerships automatically start off with a baseline of negative 6.5 with me. If they had fixed the other rattle and both rattles stay fix, I''ll bump that up later to a perfect 3.5 cuz it's seriously the best dealership I've been to.

Final score:

Longo 1
Scion -1

I just dropped my car off at the dealer the other day for rattling with the driver overhead grab handle and a rattle eminating from the rear hatch. I should be getting my car back on Wed, but from what they told me, they broke the grab handle trying to take it off (lol), so they had to order a new one. Also, they mentioned something about ordering a new panel (I guess the same panel your dealer is referring to). I'm a little skeptical as to whether or not a panel-replacement will solve rattles coming from the rear...
