just ordered

I was told 2-8 weeks when I ordered mine on September 1. It's Oct 8 now (beginning the 6th week of waiting) and still no tC.
I'm not sure how personalized mine is, but I ordered the following: Strut Tie Bar, TRD Exhaust, Pin Stripe and Floormats.
I plan to call the dealer Monday to see if there's any news, but I doubt I'll get anything. Another dealer told me that with the two hurricanes (Katrina and Rita), things have been delayed a bit at the Houston port.
They told me I'll get a two-week notice when the thing arrives at port. That sometimes makes it harder because you think: "Best case scenario - they call me tomorrow and say it's at the port. But then there's two more weeks of waiting!!!"

does anyone know the rational for the dealership only ordering on the 1st and the 16th. So does that mean that the 4-12 week wait will start once the car is ordered, or does the 4-12 week wait include the waiting till the 1st/ 16th?

i guess thats when they have a batch of scions ready to send over here to the US.
i would say that the wait starts the day when they tell you how long it could take. because something could come up before a shipment arrives.

I may have spoken too soon! My dealer called me yesterday (didn't get the voicemail til this morning) and I picked up my Scion today. I asked about why I hadn't been given 2 weeks' notice as I'd been promised, and the dealer said a ton of orders just showed up all at once.
Apparently, due to Rita/Katrina, lots of ships carrying Scions and other stuff were delayed in the Southern Gulf of Mexico. Once the bad weather passed, tons of ships docked in Houston to dump their loads. They said that was what caused all of their orders to flood in at once.
Once you get your Scion, you forget that you ever had to wait for it. It's awesome... No complaints at all.

the dealership just called and told me that the car i want but in Nautical Blue is reaching the port on the 10/12. I decided to take it because i have seen this color and although it wasn't the three i gave its real nice looking. How long does the car take to get to the dealership from the port usually.

Depending on the features that are added onto the car, it should only take 2 weeks for the car to travel from the port to your dealer. However, my dealer had a spontaneous allocation that even they couldn't explain and mine rolled off the truck at the dealer the same day that they called me. So much for my two week notice!

Usually, they have the stuff in stock and it's done before you arrive... They had my stripes, exhaust and head-unit on when I arrived, but the strut tie bar is on back-order. The dealer is going to put it on when it arrives next week.

i'm curious, macman, what state do you live in? my tC was supposed to port on the 8th, and hasn't reached the dealer yet. i was just curious since your dealer told you the 12th and you're getting yours tomorrow.
i wonder if all scions port at the same location or different locations...
sorry, you know how it is...

Congrats on your purchase macman88!! The only down side is that all the 'options' you purchased could have been bought way cheaper online. If you need a site, go to www.trdsparks.com. That's where I get all my 'options' from. My tC took about 2 weeks to get. (Granted, that was back in Oct. '04.) I sat down at a computer at the dealership and 'ordered' my tC as I made it online at www.Scion.com. Once you start modding, you won't stop! Good luck!

thanks, yeah i plan on ordering parts from places online in the future. do you know how may keys come with the car. i would assume 1 main one and and a valet key. isn't the valet key kind of pointless because you can just reach into the trunk. can you lock the glove box, i didn't look at that when i test drove it.

We got a Classic Silver Metallic tC a few weeks ago and it is hard to keep clean and yeah you can't order your car. They also put accessories on at the port. Where do you live??

everything that i "ordered", the accessories, are being put on at the dealership. please read my 2nd to last post about where i live. the dealership is about 30 minutes away from philadelphia.

you cet 2 "full" keys (with the buttons) and one valet key that automatically turns on/off the alarm when used.
the valet key only directly unlocks the the passenger and driver door. it doesn't unlock the hatch and glove box.
(the hatch can still be indirectly unlocked by doing the double unlock thing that unlocks all the doors with the key)
