That's what I did. I'm just waiting for the bypass valve to come in this week. I ordered a 2.75" size valve to match the K & N tubing.

The K&N comes with a waterjacket. The jacket will keep the water off the filter, however I dont think it does much for huge filter submerging puddles.
You can see the waterjacket in the pics.

If you really think a bypass is needed then take some extra time to convert the CAI to a short ram. It doesnt take that long and cutting of the pipe isnt needed.
I highly dought you'll be at work and a freak thunderstorm goes through causeing 6in puddles. If this happens a lot in your area dont buy a cold air.

naztyTC, did you feel a difference in the way the car pulls??

very slight notice in gains but it does change the way the trd exhaust sounds and you get a nice growl lol and yes it does have a water jacket , suposta change it every 2 years it would be very hard to submerge the filter, if you do you have more proublem then the filter lol

not really..... i know several people that have hydrolocked their motors. well i guess you could say its kind of their fault too. mostly all of them "thought" they could make it through . hey if it were me, i'd be slamming on the brakes and driving backwards if i saw something flooded.

Here in San Antonio, we have these freak rainstorms that drop tons of water and the ground doesn't have enough time to suck up the water, so a lot of the streets flood. Although I would love to get the CAI for my tC, I don't think it's a good decision for where I live. Anyone else here from San Antonio? What do you think?

I like you, you have common sense :D seriously, if you have a cai, and you have to even think to yourself if you might make it, don't drive through it.

It looks, from the pictures above, that the filter is above the center of the wheel. Therefor, that would have to be a HUUUUGE puddle for several seconds before you'd get water in the engine.

That looks like a sweet setup. I'd like to see a dyno, (and where did you get it)?
