Has anyone thougt to take a FOB such one is this article then taking your key for our scions, and reorganizing and programming and relocating the buttons and board into a nice, more compact design.

I think it would be nice to be able to have one of these for my tC made. I think I might just have to start experimenting. Does anyone have any vital information that I should know before beginning to work?

but unlike him, I plan take the motherboard and design it to operate using the buttons on the key fob. (my buddy works for Aristocrat so he has a bunch of different Fobs to choose from)

i remember a thread a while back where ppl were trying to use the ebay switchblade keys for our cars.

i dont remember if it worked or not though.

 

i think it did, but the keys just weren't functional

 

Toyota has a switchblade that would be fully functional.....I just removed it this morning from my eBay watch list.

Works great for me.

I didn't need the transponder programmed....i'm sure if you do you can go to the dealer or remove the transponder chip from your Scion key and transplant it into the switchblade.

I took my key to Lowes and got it cut for free, it came with instructions on how to program the lock and unlock buttons.......the same as a new tC key.

 

Would it be possible to get the trunk pop to do something else?

 

Good question....I don't know.

I have a 2-way remote that I use for my alarm, remote start, etc. and the auxiliary output is used for my trunk pop.

im wanting to figure out how to take one of my buttons for automate sercutiy remote and using on of the funtion buttons to opne my sunroof

 

Ecko so all you did was:

1. Order key fob
2. Cut the chip from the old key
3. Glue chip into fob
4. Went to lowes to get it cut?

 

Aftermarket alarm.....problem solved.

12 volt auxiliary from the alarm to an orange wire in the drivers kick panel in the gray 12 pin plug, pin 12 should be the orange wire.

Hold the aux button on the alarm keyless entry remote and the trunk will pop. Only when the door are unlocked will the trunk pop since it is locked and unlocked with the doors.

 

1. Order key fob
2. Went to Lowes to get it cut and they cut it for free since I brought my own key...Home Depot wouldn't cut it...they were afraid of messing something up.
3. Came home and programmed the lock/unlock function

I didn't have to remove a chip but you would or you can go to the dealer and have the chip in the switchblade programmed.
